Situated on the Gulf of Bothnia, Uusikaupunki is known especially for its beautiful seaside and marvellously preserved wooden houses. Start your city holiday in Uusikaupunki by touring the wooden housing district. Here you will find the Wahlberg House, a part of Uusikaupunki Museum. Uusikaupunki Automobile Museum illustrates the history of motor vehicles. The museum has been called the most significant of its kind in Finland, and includes the very first Finnish car, built in the early 1900s.
While on holiday in Uusikaupunki, you should get acquainted with the beautiful archipelago. Trips are available to destinations such as the Katanpää Fortress Island, with its old garrison and nature trails, and the Isokari Lighthouse. It is best to see Isokari on a guided tour that includes a visit to the top of the lighthouse.
Shipwreck tours offer an exciting peek under the surface, and seal safaris visit the Sandbäck Nature Conservation Area, where you might come face-to-face with grey seals.
