Boarders Inn & Suites by Cobblestone Hotels - Munising
8/10 Good
"We traveled during peak season so prices in the area were generally very high. This property offered a fair price and we booked one month in advance. The amenities such as the pool, hot tub, lounge/bar, free breakfast, 24/7 coffee were great. The staff was very helpful and extremely friendly. There is a cute store by the front desk with a great variety from sweatshirts/t-shirts to mugs, stickers, etc. My only major complaint about the property is that there is absolutely no place to sit comfortably outside to enjoy your morning coffee or evening beverage and the fresh UP air. We had to sit on the steps right by the door with people constantly coming and going with their luggage so there was no comfortable or quiet place to sit. There is plenty of room to add several comfortable outdoor seating areas on the property so that would be my only suggestion. Another major issue to be aware of is that there is no delivery food service in Munising. We got in around dinner time and were planning to unpack and order a pizza, but there is no delivery of any kind, so if you are planning to do this, you will need to go pick it up and bring it back. Many people were doing this and sitting in the bar/lounge area to eat. The hotel is older and could use some upgrades, but it was very clean and everything was in working order. The staff was very responsive to requests and questions during our 4 night stay."
"Pros: Last minute availability, great location, hiking trail to small waterfall behind the unit, comfy bed, dog friendly, clean bathroom.
Cons: Floor and furniture were sandy, pull out couch didn’t have a sheet, pull out couch uncomfortable (thin and springy), not much of an outdoor seating/fire pit area.
The studio units are really 2 person units IMO, though they technically sleep 4. They only have 2 plates/bowls, 2 outdoor chairs, etc. They are very small, so anything more than 2 and there isn’t much room to move around. They are nice and mostly clean (pretty sure housekeeping forgot to sweep and the furniture was also sandy). This is a good landing base if you just need a spot to sleep and don’t plan to spend a lot of time there. Make sure to read the amenities so you know it’s not a fully equipped kitchen. FYI, it does have a toaster.
Note to management- A mat at the front door would go a long way at keeping sand out of the rental. Also, please add 2 more plates and bowls."
"One of the best mid-tier hotels I've stayed in in a long time! Hard to believe it is a Holiday Inn Express. They renovated in November 2025 and spared no expense. The pool and hot tub were huge and very nice. They had a commercial Costa coffee maker in the lobby. The breakfast was fresh and plentiful and included a pancake maker! The rooms were nicely done. They had firm and soft pillows...loved the discrete labeling on the pillow cases. The view of Lake Superior from the breakfast room and the back porch were gorgeous...I could not get enough. I would definitely return to this hotel if I am in the area again. And I would definitely recommend it to my friends and family."
"Super nice hotel, great area, walking distance to restaurants and town. Front desk and Sheila very professional and detailed. Great pool area and nice beds. Great value for money for independent hotel. Totally worth it and great stay"
