"Pension Barbara is a very cosy and clean pension right next to the paths leading up to The Brocken. The hostess was very sweet and attentive, and we had a good stay. Schierke as a town is a bit dated and quiet in the autumn, when we visited. Is was difficulty to find a place to just have a couple of drinks etc. The national park, Brocken and paths are all excellent for a short hiking-holiday. Great nature, chalenging paths (if you want it), nice restaurant on the summit."

"Stayed here for a night for the Christmas market. Nice and close to the train station, so it's very convenient. The room was very big and clean! Staff were very friendly as well at checkin and checkout, very nice and helpful staff. Would stay here again for sure!"

"Quite the dilemma, this hotel. Whilst the facilities are very good, the attitude of the staff, beginning with check-in are so poor (I would go so far as to say completely bereft of anything resembling customer service) that my work team and friends who regularly visit Goslar will never be staying here again (The Hotel Schiefer will now be receiving our business). "

"We liked the location. Right in town. This what we didn’t like. We were not greeted at the property as stated. Thank goodness my dau speaks German, had internet access on her phone and the skills to locate the owner who gave her the passcode to get the room key out of lock box. He stated he didn’t see the reservation and upgraded our room. Next we expected to have breakfast everyday for €7.50 each. We went down for breakfast only to find no one on site and no breakfast. We called the owner who said it had to be booked 24hrs in advance. So we did that for the balance of our stay. However, again No breakfast was made and no one on the premises to ask any questions. We contacted the Owner, left messages and he still has not returned our calls. Without breakfast at property we had to leave the premises and pay more for breakfast. Total spent for breakfast for two people for 3 days €89.22. Would we return. Yes, but with better communication and service. If u want copies of breakfast receipts they can be provided. Ms. Lynch. "
