"The advert on the hotels.com website did not match the facts of the stay. The advert states free parking it was not it cost me £30 for the stay. We spoke to the owner who stated that the advert was not placed by him. It was the fault of hotels.com as he does not use them you get your info from a 3rd party All I know is that I am £30 out of pocket. The stay was good as I can not blame hotels.com for all the rain."

"Lovely hotel for the price, small touches like daily exchange of wet spa robes and towels would elevate even further. Great staff throughout, food very good, on-site parking charge expensive and unusual for the UK. All around a very good experience, would stay again."

"Looks very glamourous in the photo & apart from the fact we got a really large room, that's all that was good about it. There was NO soap or handwash in the bathroom, just a tiny bottle of shampoo & a toilet seat that should have been fixed months ago. There was no key to the room, all electronic & after the initial checking, the staff member disappeared and we never saw another staff member again, even when trying to get someone to adjust the toilet seat - it was quite dangerous if you weren't sure footed. Parking was also very restricted, & as we got a park, we weren't game enough to use the car again, in case there were none available on our return. Very disappointed 😞"

"Fabulous hotel. Friendly staff and wonderful position. We had a gorgeous room over looking the estuary. Couldn't fault anything. My husband collapsed in Salcombe and everyone at the hotel was very helpful, particularly members of the public who came to my husbands aid. I did thank the people that helped us but not having anyone's telephone numbers was not able to thank them properly. It was so appreciated. We had to go home so didn't get to enjoy the hotel as we would have liked. Thank you again and a big thank you to the people who helped us."

"Beautiful hotel in a stunning setting. We enjoyed sitting out on the terrace looking over the gardens and countryside, and relaxing in the elegant and comfortable lounge. Great staff, friendly and attentive. Our room was spacious, great views and well equipped, and nicely laid out. Good food too. A great place to stay in Dartmoor."

"Beautiful old building, the reception area/bar/lounge areas were fab. A little tasty around the edges....tables literally, but I loved the feel. The outdoor, heated pool was a real bonus....I didn't expect it to be as warm as it was! Only downside, I saw someone spraying the weeds around the Pool & was unable to find out what they used! The receptionist who checked me in was amazingly helpful & cheery. The rest of the staff were very helpful, but there seemed to be an apathy/ underlying issues, which made the staff seem aloof. For a one night stay it was perfect & I would happily stay again. I really hope the staff are looked after so they can give their best selves."
