"KNOW WHAT YOU’RE GETTING: hotel and beach town in disrepair. Price per night is a cry for help, double what it should be. Obviously they’re trying to keep the place going but targeting the wrong audience.
Why stay here:
- you feel bad for struggling owners
- graffitied ghost towns are your thing
Why avoid
- location
- uncomfortable beds
- smell + couch stains that will keep you awake at night
Accommodations seemed appealing on the internet, the reality is we could not comfortably utilize anything because the smell and stains on the couch made our skin crawl.
Thought we’d save the day by checking out the beach. Beach access was difficult to find and regretted. Every building along the beach was abandoned and graffitied.
It’s the off season maybe things aren’t usually so bad? We pressed on. With four hungry kids we set out for dinner - nowhere to eat but a grocery store. You know the hotel room is not great when you take as long as you can at the grocery store so you don’t have to go back.
Returned around 8:30 pm and surveyed more of the room. I contacted hotels.com to let them know the hotel misrepresented the accommodations. Nothing they could do but send reception over. Reception curtly told me that cigarette smell I reported was non existent and then it hit me… the smell wasn’t cigs but ozone. If you know, you know ozone machines are used to get rid of mold and bugs. Need I say more? They didn’t bother to assess the smell of spoiled food in the 2nd room. "
