Surround yourself with nature with a holiday to Torla, a typical Aragonese town and gateway to the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park.

Presided over by the Mondarruego massif, you’ll find the beautiful town of Torla-Ordesa. The place name derives from the word torre, or tower, in reference to the building that once stood there in the 15th century to defend the territory from the French. This ancient fortification was located on the site where we now find the beautiful church of San Salvador, with its Romanesque style.

Torla-Ordesa is the gateway to the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park and the Broto Valley. Also, part of the town is actually within the Natural Monument of the Pyrenean Glaciers, and the unique location is one of the main attractions for those looking for cheap trips to Torla. Ordesa National Park, made up of four valleys and a central mountainous massif, is the jewel in the crown of the Pyrenees, and home to the Soaso waterfall, or Cola de Caballo, one of its main attractions.

Take a look at our package deals to Torlaand discover the town’s many attractions first-hand. Enjoy a stroll through the historic old quarter and admire the various examples of traditional High Aragonese architecture. One highlight is the Casón de los Viu, an old palace built in the 14th century. The church of San Salvador dominates the surroundings, with its beautiful Romanesque portal. You’ll also want to head over to Plaza Mayor, the heart of social life in Torla and home to a building dating back to the 13th century.

Check out our deals for trips to Torlaand enjoy the patron saint festivities and popular dances. The town has managed to preserve traditions such as its carnival, the traditional jota dance, which is a little slower than the Aragonese version, the paloteao, in which dancers portray the struggles for the control of the high mountain pastures, and the Rapatán dance, which represents the collection of cattle every winter.

Torla is 37 miles to the north of Huesca, where you’ll find the nearest medium-distance train. The most comfortable way to reach this small Aragonese town is by car, which will allow you to explore the area on your own and really get the most out of the beautiful surroundings.
