"Very clean room, excellent breakfast. Lovely, lovely staff, very friendly and helpful. Nice to have our dog at breakfast. Reasonable checking in and checking out times and breakfast allocation time. Only thing that would have made it better would have been the temperature of the room! It was soooo hot. There was a fan in the wardrobe but it was still far too hot. Very unsettled first night as hardly slept at all. Worst night I’ve had in years which was a shame as we were away for the weekend. The first night was unsettled but the second night was hardly any sleep at all for both of us and my husband can sleep anywhere! Not sure what could have been done as the heating wasn’t on in the bathroom when we touched it? Beautiful hotel grounds to walk around and walk your dog. Excellent tea tray and welcome book. If I had to be constructive I’d say the room needed a table side lamp and the welcome folder requires a note saying to get a code from the desk to be able to get out of the grounds. I didn’t know the first time and the second time I forgot to ask again and on my way back in I asked at the reception desk and she explained it has to be changed regularly. I think if it was explained in the welcome folder I would have asked at the desk before walking to the gardens. Very well kept beautiful gardens for sure. I expected the room to be tired after reading reviews and I was pleasantly surprised. Such a shame our room was like a sauna otherwise it would have been a perfect stay. "

"We stayed for one night and had a mixed experience. Unfortunately, the heating in the room wasn’t working when we arrived, but when we reported it to reception they were helpful and quickly provided a portable heater, which warmed the bedroom well enough. There was a noticeable amount of mould present in the bathroom, which isn’t something you expect at this price point. The layout of the bath/shower also means there is a window and windowsill within, so water splashes directly onto the sill and blinds when showering. Combined with the mould and the flaking paint around the window, it made the bathroom feel quite run down and in need of maintenance. On the positive side, the bed, pillows and duvet were extremely comfortable and we slept very well. The curtains also did a great job of blocking out the light. Overall, the stay was comfortable enough for one night, but given the price and the expectations that come with a Hotel du Vin, the room felt a little tired and not quite worth the cost. It has the feel of a luxury hotel, but one that could benefit from some maintenance and updating. Toby on reception was very friendly and helpful. "

"Staff all nice. Room worn but clean and tidy so a reasonable stay. Hopefully the following is helpful feedback; Fridge not working (a 2nd one added to the room wasn't working either). Kettle lid broken and kept falling off when filling with water. The in-shower shelf was missing therefore shower gel on the floor. Not a worry to me but maybe to less mobile people. Rooms are not very sound proofed so corridor noise is a problem without very good earplugs. Bed comfy. The bar and lobby are fine and the car park is great so near to town and the quays. As this is one of the less expensive hotels, on balance it is ok and would stay again but would keep an eye on the price."

" Had no hot water on 2 days of our 3 days stay. Servicing of room not carried out as towels were not changed each day, beds were not made up and coffee and tea were not replenished until we phoned reception. The room bin was not emptied during our stay. We paid £472.50 for 3 nights stay."
