"New staff from last year. We recognized only two - front desk and massuse (sp?). Food was excellent, but very slow. 90 minute wait for lunch special. "The most beautiful beach I have EVER seen!! Get to where you can't touch bottom and your feet are clearly visible still! The sand is like flour - so soft! Royal West has a private area of the beach - chairs, loungers, umbrellas, and towels are free and do not require a hold the day before, like some places do. The grounds and pool areas are very very nice. I was a solo traveler so I did nothing but the beach, but I saw a lot of water activities. I kind of got an impression that not all of the island is safe. Having said that, I personally had no problems with anyone I encountered. The exception was the taxi from/to the airport. I did a shared ride and they charged me $40 when it should have been $20. Plan on having cash as taxi rides do not take credit. Also, bring plenty of loose cash if you are a tipper. Lots of people handling the stay. On the return flight, go up to the second floor. It says it's a "club" but anyone that has been on the island can use it. Much quieter and less hectic than the downstairs. That little tidbit came from a local."

"Our stay was very good, the staff was extremely polite and helpful. The two things that I would like to see improved are the accommodations and the beach chase lounges. The room that I stayed in was a bit dated as were the chase lounges on the beach. Both could use an upgrade. "

"The room is huge and clean with good amenities. The maids did a very good job daily. There is no breakfast; however, the property is very close to the major shops and restaurants in Grace Bay (also to the biggest grocery store). The staff is very friendly and check in on you daily, asking if there's anything they can improve on. I saw concerning comments about the hotel surroundings, particularly about safety. I did not feel any concern. The front of the property is in the heart of Grace Bay; the back side and back are surrounded by natural vegetation and construction sites—nothing to be concerned about. My point for improvement is the building's overall maintenance. It seems the lift has not been working for a while. For a 3-star hotel, I think they deliver enough. There are no hidden fees or surprises. All the information was included on the booking post. Overall, I am pretty happy with the stay. To the management: improve the maintenance, and your hotel will be a rockstar."
