Things to do in Strathtay

Activities, attractions and tours

Ready to go Preparing to launch onto the Tay at Grandtully for the paddle to Dunkeld, 21Km downstream. Grandtully is more correctly Grantully (pronounced 'Grantly') but mapping has it with the 'd' and it will probably now stick. After 8 weeks with little or no rain, rivers are low, but the River Tay, fed from Loch Tay, usually hold its level well.
River Tay rapids at Grantully. This is a longer view of the rapids the 1st photo for this square covers. Taken at the end of November, so-one was foolish/brave enough to be on the river. Grantully, by the way, should not, traditionally, have a D in it, but the map-makers (as so often, certainly in Scotland) got it wrong and the mistake stuck.
River Tay near Grantully The river alternates between calm ponds ideal for salmon and rapids that excite the rafters.
