Things to do in Évora

Évora Cathedral is among the many wonderful and well-preserved historic sites that make the scenic town of Évora so inviting. Praça do Giraldo is not only a beautiful part of Évora, it is also within walking distance of most of the biggest attractions in this town. Come here to relax, take photos and people-watch before heading off to explore the cobbled streets that lead off from the square.

History is everywhere in Évora, so of course it makes sense that the University of Évora has a rich past. The university is the beating heart of the town, the place which constantly draws in new young residents. But for tourists, too, there is a lot to see here. The Igreja de São Francisco, or the Church of St. Francis, is among Évora’s most visited sites. Come here to admire a fine example of late 15th to early 16th-century architecture. Évora’s Templo Romano, also known as the Roman Temple of Évora or the Diana Temple, is one of the major draws for visitors to this historic town.
