A 'Tracker' from The Shennong Stream, demonstrating the technique to make their weave sandals.
Hanging Coffins and the Shennong Stream.

Another very enjoyable excursion from our Yangtze River cruise. The Shennong Stream is a tributary of the Yangtze. The excursion takes you 20km up the stream through three specatacular gorges to experience the Boat Trackers - http://www.travelchinaguide.com/river/yangtze_attraction/shennong-stream.htm - they used to do this nude!
On the journey you get to see the incredible hanging coffins as pictured. Originally, before the 3 Gorges dam flooded the gorge, these were 90 - 200m above the river surface. They date back 2000 years and no-one is quite sure how these incredible feats of engineering were acheived.
My picture was taken with from some distance away and this coffin is probably about 90 metres above the current river level.
