I go through phases.
Sometimes I feel like the person
I'm supposed to be,
and then
somedays I turn into no one
at all.
There is both me and
my silhouette.
I hope that on the days
you find me and all
I am are darkened lines
you still are willing
to be near me.

This is one of my favorite memories from my first trip to the magical isles of Batanes more than three years ago. I remember it was a cold misty morning standing all alone surrounded by thousands of boulders blanketing the shores of Valugan Beach. For miles in every direction, there was no movement except the constant crashing of the waves against these rocks and the slow steady rolling of the clouds across the morning sky and even over the towering silhouette of Mt Iraya. Unfazed by the sea spray, I became the sole spectator of what I happily imagined was a spectacle prepared by nature especially for me. And it was beyond glorious.
Amazing sunset in Batanes.
