This hotel is a bit quirky but that’s its charm. We were given a tour and info about access and the area by the owner when we arrived.
Comfy bed and clean room and bathroom area.
Great for a walk along the beach.
Mattresses are very hard & lumpy….. an update on those might be a good idea …. Hand sanitiser in 1 room was empty as well.
Attendant for signing into to rooms to be at the residence at stated times and updated information on any changes agreed to over the phone with staff or through bookings be in hand when visitors arrive to be signed in by staff.
The staff at the restaurant and the meals were very good… 😊
Loved the quirky concept of the musician themed rooms. Clean comfortable with a reasonably priced great breakfast. Recommend for sure!

Liked: Staff & service
It was reto and an experience. Bought back memories of the past. Staff were excellent. But I guess the bathroom without a door took soom getting used too! But I did have a laugh!
Wi-Fi code should be displayed in the room.
Our stay was on a Sunday night when the bar was closed and no one around.
It was a peaceful stay with a short walk to the beach, highlighted by walking on to the beach in the morning to see a pod of dolphins swimming by.

Overnight stay
We only stayed 1 night on a road trip. The room seemed bigger on line but it was clean and comfortable the record player & collection of records was a nice novelty pity all the records were scratched so we couldn’t play them. It was very expensive for what was essentially basic accommodation with a musical theme decor, staff were very pleasant. Location was close to a fabulous surf beach
Dave Grohl’s drum booth was pretty cosy [not a lot of room]. The drum riser had some squeaks [bed and /or floor]. The bass player and guitarist’s amp was way too loud [hotel’s fridge compressors cutting in all night]. The studio certainly wasn’t sound proof. Gaps under door and single glaze bay windows don’t stop external noise [see above]. So the room was overpriced! Location was great, staff were friendly and the food looked good.
A truly unique and special place! With equally special owners and staff.
The rooms are up stairs, but they do have one fully accessible room. Each room is delightfully decorated to commemorate different musicians.
Rooms have pretty good sound proofing, but it is still easy to hear the live music that plays at various times (lunch or dinner) in the Flow Bar downstairs. To really enjoy, book a table downstairs and enjoy a lovely meal or make use of the table and chairs provided on the verandah outside the rooms and order a meal to be delivered to your room.
I attended on the Old Bar Festival (previously known as The Kombi Festival) which has run for many years on the Labour Day long weekend in October.
With markets, live music, lots of amazing food and fun rides, there is something for every one! Spectacular aerial acrobatics from some scarily expert pilots and a parade of hundreds of amazing Kombis really are breathtaking and draw people from across Australia and beyond.
This is definitely the right place to stay if you enjoy good music and supporting local and well known talent, good food and good people. The easy access to the beach, via a rainforest trail directly across the road, is yet another bonus.
Booking well in advance is a must, because accommodation in Old Bar, and surrounding areas, is hard to come by on a whim all year 'round.
