To be honest, the spa facilities and the hotel itself are not bad at all however we have had a few issues over recent stays. Namely a billing issue between the hotel and Expedia itself which took an entire afternoon of our visit to resolve.
I would recommend that the newer side of the hotel is the nicer one for rooms.

"Right in the centre of the town, so very handy for travel and eating. Self-check went well with easy opening of doors using phone. Room was comfortable and shower was great. Free breakfast items and hot drinks were a nice touch."

"It’s a hotel with a lot of history — very different from modern chain hotels. It’s not large, but it feels warm and cozy. There are only a few staff members, and they’re all very friendly. It’s a great place to relax and unwind."
"After two-week adventure, we stayed our last night in Europe at Hotel Hofbalzers. After a long driving day, we were happy to stretch our legs with a walk through the neighborhood to the old church and castle, both in view of the balcony off our hotel room.
