"When you drive at this hotel you must see that you will be transfer by sea boat to your room or separate hause if you reserved hause. Small island and friendly owners help you to stay comfortable. You can take your favorite food and something for BBQ if you want. But if you haven't your food you can order bracfest and dinner through check-in. Finally it seems everybody like sauna, lake beach, own BBQ and evening in the fireplace. "

"The Hotel Kakola is a unique property. It's one of the most unusual hotels we have stayed in because up until just a few years ago it had been a prison! They certainly did a fabulous remodeling to make it into a lovely hotel. The gals at the reception were very friendly and helpful. Henna went above and beyond spending time with us to give us ideas for touring the area. We enjoyed both the outdoor terrace and the buffet breakfast. It's a bit eerie to see handcuffs on the backs of the chairs in the lobby bar but it's all part of the effect of the prison! Our room was very spacious and lovely! I would highly recommend the Hotel Kakola for your stay in Turku, Finland!"

"What a lovely hotel! My family enjoyed our five nights at this lovely little gem in Turku. The room was clean and well appointed. We loved that there was a window that would open and a ceiling fan. To top that off there were automatic sun awnings that rolled out at just the right time to keep the room a lovely cool temperature. The front desk staff were friendly and always available to help. The breakfast buffet was delightful. They had lots of gluten free options on the buffet, but also provided bread and pastries from the kitchen when asked to keep them gluten free. Lovely central location with lots of things to walk to and many bus lines close by."

"The breakfast was very good in proportion to this being a two-star hotel, though not exceeding that benchmark. Commendable was the strong and reliable, password-protected wi-fi connection that even more expensive hotels often do not have. The main difficulty is that the window cannot be opened in the room, and there is just weak air conditioning that cannot be controlled, so the air can become difficult to breathe. This can make it very difficult to manage for those needing fresh (or at least cool) air. There is also a lack of power sockets in the room—only one regular socket placed unnaturally closer to the top of the wall. Knowing this in advance can help to be prepared."
