As vegetarians, our requests were simple: two toasted cheese, tomato, and onion sandwiches, three glasses of pineapple juice, and we inquired about pastries. They offered ice cream and chocolate mousse instead. After eating, we were stopped and presented with a bill for a staggering 2,950 Turkish Lira (approximately R1150.00). This was not the continental breakfast rate. They had itemized every single component at outrageous, à la carte prices—charging us exorbitantly for two simple sandwiches, three juices, and the desserts they themselves offered.
