"I have to say , WOW! Both me and my husband enjoyed our stay so much at the Dakota . We originally booked a king room for our last two days to relax before our flight . After our first night , though the room was stunning , but we decided we wanted to indulge. I went down to reception where Brooke helped us , and organized a suite for the remainder of our stay . They allowed us to relax in our previous room until the suite was ready , which was before normal check in time (3pm) . Bringing us into the room shortly after 12pm. If you go to this hotel , I highly recommend upgrading . Though the entry level rooms are beautiful and extremely comfortable , the suites are truly an experience. Every need is met before you even have to ask , and the staff were incredible . During our stay in Scotland we visited 4 hotels , and this was by far the best hospitality we received. The champagne service is such a lovely touch as well ! It was the most relaxed and calm we’ve been during our entire trip . Thank you so much to the entire Dakota staff (especially Brooke and David ) for making it truly amazing . We will definitely be back !"
"The rooms can do with a deep clean. From the sink to the skirting it was filthy. We had a family room, the top mattress was burst open, which you could see from the bottom bunk. The handle on the cupboard in the bunk bed room was broken off, not ideal as meant we couldn't use it.
There is an additional charge to use the swimming pool, I didn't know this until check in.
Breakfast was alright, however, there were no pastries the whole time were at breakfast, and there was still and hour left of breakfast service to go.
Although setting is good I wouldn't rush back to this hotel."
"Amazing! Clean room, friendly staff. They have a bag check so I was able to drop my bags and go explore before check-in time. The laundry facilities and gym are nice."
"The property is really nicely maintained, especially common areas like the lounges, reception, and bar.
Our room was nice, comfortable (albeit small) but it didn't have a mini- fridge, which we found odd and kind of a bummer. I might be in the wrong for not reading the fine print and just assuming there would be one; I've never stayed in a hotel where there was no mini-fridge. We were able to do without it, but if you're someone who needs to keep something cold (like a nursing mother or someone who takes certain medication), that can be an issue.
Our view of the river was cute. We appreciated being able to open the window.
All in all, a stay here seems a tad overpriced for what you're getting in your room. This would be a great place to stay if you're on a business trip and plan to use the on-site lounge, bar, and restaurant."
"We felt very taken care of and like our needs mattered. The associates we encountered were super friendly and helpful. The property isn’t in the most attractive area of the city, with the train tracks as our window view, but we appreciated the wonderful noise blocking from the windows. We barely noticed the trains running. The bed was very comfortable.
Only con was the amount of water that got on the floor because of the 1/2 glass. It seems like a slip hazard waiting to happen. "
"Our standard room was small but everything was very well planned out for space so for a weekend 2 night stay it was perfect. Very central too and less than 10 min walk to Glasgow Queen St Station. We walked to all the attractions we could fit in 2 days."
