Southwest Austin hotel rooms a the Independent

"Breakfast was great! There was a great variety of food and it was delicious. The one thing people need to know about this place is that the rooms are not sound proof or anywhere near. We stayed on the 8th floor, and we could clearly hear what people were saying in the hallways and in the room next to ours. It was loud and hard to sleep because of that. For that reason, I would not stay at this property again, although the rooms themselves were nice and well maintained."

"I liked the location. Walking distance to 6th Street and all the attractions. I loved my room, which was large and very clean. Very good buffet breakfast."

"Check in was flawless. This hotel has a fragrance that is so memorable and I wish I could immerse myself in it. It’s not heavy, it’s clean and iconic. Diana greeted us at check in and she was simply amazing. I had booked a king size room with at random on accident that was ADA compliant. She offered a walk in shower option that we enjoyed much more, the room overlooked the pool. We had stayed here years ago when they first opened for our anniversary and they have remained consistent in their attention to detail. We had a concert to attend and that was our reason for going to Austin. However, staying at the Fairmount is a treat, it’s an event within itself. We ordered room service for breakfast and it was perfection. This is my absolute favorite hotel and I travel often. I can’t wait to return and I know the people and the service will be just the way I fondly remember it. I miss it already! Thank you!!"

"I had to ask for my upgrade. The elevators are very small, barely fit 3 people. But when I asked for my upgrade it was given to me."

"Front desk staff was fine. The other staff within the hotel is lacking. The poolside bar staff was pretty rude. The guy argued with me about what I ordered … even when he turned out to be wrong he was still rude. Coffee shop staff also give off the air that they would rather pour coffee on you than for you. We have stayed at this location a few times and probably will start staying somewhere else. It’s a great location and the pool is heated and peaceful but we’re tired of dealing with employees that make our stay unpleasant. "

"Worst La Quinta yet. We go to these because they’re affordable but still I expected at least one of the two televisions to work properly but neither did. We did have one remote which didn’t work for either TV. The AC was inconsistent and both me and my partner were sweating throughout each night as a result. The bed was without a doubt the least comfortable bed we’ve ever slept in. There were also some stains in the room but otherwise fairly clean."
