"We stayed here as a family of four for 2 nights. The location is absolutely fantastic—right across the road from the beach!
The rooms were surprisingly spacious and very clean, which we appreciated. However, the hotel itself is quite old and run down. For instance, the rooms are still using old TV screens rather than smart TVs (E.g no Netflix or Disney+ etc) and remote buttons were old and hard to press. They have also transitioned to an eco-friendly model to reduce single-use items, which is great in theory, but everything else feels like an extra fee.
We had to pay extra for Wi-Fi, and parking was quite expensive at $78 for the two nights (it feels like this should really be discounted for staying guests).
Overall, it was a pleasant stay because of the space and location, but it definitely needs some modernizing to match the price tag."
"There was no one available for our check in at 1330. We had to wait. There was no cleaning equipment in the room so we couldn't do any basic house work. There was no where to walk in the park as there were restricted signs around all the accommodation some of which appeared to be permanent. The smart TV control did not work all the time and the TV kept freezing up. The TV setup and time was completely out of synch. The air-conditioning system kept rattling all night disturbing our sleep. There was continual banging from other rooms nearby possibly maintenance or other residents. Other than that it was great."
"I paid $1100 for a renovated room and thought it would be pretty decent for that price … instead I got a renovated room but very small and claustrophobic windows had locks on it that couldn’t be opened like they were painted shut and was told in listing it had 50 inch tv but it was only a little 28 inch tv in the corner on a mount all awkward to watch from bed or any angle and no toaster and microwave in room only mini fridge and kettle .. I thought for $1100 you would at least get those things cause you can get cheaper rooms at different places that have all those things plus more ! Very misleading listing and the shower wouldn’t stay hot when using and turn cold so I told reception and their excuse was it’s an old building and everyone showers at same time … whaaaat lol … does everyone shower at 5:00am I don’t think so… the only good thing about this room was heated tiles in bathroom that’s literally it ! And they didn’t even have a common room with microwave for all guests !! So I had to go downstairs to kitchen where they cook in restaurant and asked them to reheat my food otherwise I couldn’t eat what I had in fridge … and no elevator even a small one so I had to life my luggage bags up the stairs … what a pain"
"The Argyle is ideally situated. Close to
Everything in town.
Easy off
Street parking.
Great food and friendly helpful staff.
Rooms are small, but we did have a good sized ensuite.
Could do with more hooks to hang things like clothes and towels on.
Room warm, bed very comfortable and no road noise, but walls are thin and everything can be heard including people in the corridor and in adjacent rooms. Didn’t bother us, but worth knowing.
Absolutely suited us for an overnight stay."
"Stayed for 2 nights. Friendly, quick and easy check in. Hotel is in a great location - easy walking distance to the beach and also into the city center. Room was a good size, well appointed and clean. Would definitely stay again."
