Best Western Rochester Hotel Mayo Clinic Area/St. Mary's
2/10 Terrible
"Our first room was so dirty that the floors in the bathroom had hair and fake lashes all over. The curtains had blood on them. The hide-abed mattress was stained with what looked like blood. And blood on the pillows. The room was marked clean. I would say not. Asked for a new room and when I went to check the door was unlocked and looked like someone had slept on the bed. Asked front desk to fix and wouldn’t fix for 2 hours so we had to stay in the other room. When they said it was clean we moved over and noticed they didn’t even fix the bedding or change sheets. They just flipped the pillow around. And our last night we waited over an hour to even get towels for our room. The front desk staff was rude and inappropriate by speaking to my child about how I got upset on the phone with her and that I should have just waited. I will never stay at this hotel again. I don’t recommend either. Very disappointed."
"Room needs better attention. Vacuum in corners and along walls. Whomever hung pictures and mirror, didn't know what they were doing. Hire a professional next time. Mirror totally in wrong spot. Breakfast and staff helpful and pleasant. Parking, awful!! Signage badly needs updating. Diagrams on where you are and where you are trying to get to would be very helpful on every floor and by every elevator. More arrows needed. Would I stay here again? Probably not."
"This hotel is NOT for anyone using a wheelchair. Although it is advertised as wheelchair accessible, it is not easy. The only automatic door was the front lobby entrance, side doors did not have easy access and the threshold of these doors were nearly impossible to get over. Our room was on the first floor. However there was an very long incline which was very difficult to push a wheelchair up. Two other guests had to help me push to get to our room. The desk clerk laughed at me when I asked if there was any other entrance to use that didn't involve climbing a hill. Yes, there was a side entrance. It still had an incline just not as long. There was not a railing to hang onto along the sidewalk and I nearly lost control and crashed the wheelchair into a dumpster at the bottom of the incline. The overflowing dumpsters may have cushioned the impact had there been one. The toilet in our room was ridiculously low making it extremely difficult to get on and off and there were no any grab bars in the shower, making a fall risk very real. At breakfast they had instant oatmeal but not a microwave to use to prepare. When asked if there was a microwave to use, the kitchen staff said in a huff that there was not a microwave for guest use but that she would do it for us. She had some illness which made her cough and hack horribly so even though she heated it up, we didn't eat it due to fear of illness. We have many upcoming appts at Mayo but we will NOT stay here again!"
"Room was comfortable and clean. Pool area was clean. Breakfast buffet was stocked and fresh with a variety of hot and cold items. Overall enjoyable stay within walking distance to Mayo and restaurants. "
"Front desk person was there to collect a paycheck. Seemed annoyed I had some questions about parking after I checked in. No smile. Choppy personality."
