"A top notch experience for our four night stay in a one bedroom apt at East Hotel in Canberra. Underground parking was a key consideration for our stay and it worked well ($20 a night). Very pleasant and helpful staff and a great restaurant (Italian) downstairs where we had both breakfast and dinner a couple of times. Fast wifi. Amazing hot water (the hottest I think we have ever come across, anywhere!). Firm king sized bed with comfortable mattress topper was great. Aircon was effective (its starting to get cold in Canberra in May!). Excellent soundproofing (we were on the 5th floor, directly opposite the "Kingo" hotel (world famous in Canberra). A couple of very minor (1st world) issues. The lighting in the apt was not great for makeup (so my wife told me), though there are plenty of mirrors. There was plenty of clothes storage space (including hanging), though the fact that some of this storage was in the bathroom was a little odd. Kitchen was very well appointed, with a full range of pots and pans (better than almost anywhere else we have stayed in our extensive travels). In apt laundry facilities were top notch (though we didn't use them), with separate washer and dryer. The provision of free and very tasty jellybeans and chocolate sprinkles near reception was a nice touch as well. Overall we couldn't fault the service and amenities for our stay at East Hotel."

"Apartment very comfy and great location. Breakfast is adequate and is somewhat disorganized, there don’t appear to be to be enough staff. On busy weekends it gets a bit chaotic. I will definitely stay at the Avenue again, but will go out for breakfast or self cater."

"No Restaurant available. No gym available. No laundry room available. No housekeeping without payment. Free wifi only works for 24hours. Air conditioning restricted so cannot be controlled. No Bar. No room service. Got charged for breakfast despite booking and paying already. The advertised amenities are not available. 2 other guests started shouting at me and stole food off my plate at breakfast. And the breakfast was disgusting - bacon all fat, sausages pale and all skin, even the hash browns are rubbery. Sauces were over sweet and rubbery too. Why were there green beans in the baked beans? Barely a place to sit, and mess and old plates everywhere. Think there was only 3 people - 2 chefs and 1 FOH. Chef had to keep coming out to deliver food, whilst FOH accused everyone of not paying for breakfasts. Pool is dirty, UNHEATED, and in shade all the time. Room was dirty and old. There was no duvet cover, and the duvet was yellow and dirty. Hotel overall dirty and uncared for. Amenities they advertised were not available - straight up false advertising. Avoid this place. Expedia attempted to contact them for a refund but haven't been able to get in touch. Sums it up."

"Comfortable basic motel in Forrest. Clean, comfortable bed, well located just 10 minutes walk to Manuka and restaurants. Supplied some crockery and cutlery which was useful."
