Pros: very close to Seoraksan Park (5 minute walk) and great breakfast buffet. Cons: shower stall had a cracked base (water came out along with black sludge at times), hotel rooms are dated, windows were not clean (a simple way to show you take care of the building), and the laundry—while free—had flies coming out of the washer.
Location can't be beat for proximity to Seoraksan National Park, (great for earlier morning start (5 min walk to entrance)) but otherwise way past former (if ever) glory. Facility very tired, staff did their job, food options limited. Ended up driving to Socko for everything else, so just need to decide if you want to drive to park in morning, vs drive somewhere for everything else.

Super nice and convenient location right by the park but the hotel could use a face lift.
Staff was excellent, always going above and beyond to provide excellent service. As one example, on check-in the staff offered us a free upgrade to an available room that had more ammenities than the one we had booked.

Facility is quite old but it seems its maintenance is OK. I do not know this "Kensington" brand has something related to UK brand. Location is perfect if you focus on Seorak national mountain hike (of course it is close to beach resort). Not so much facility inside but breakfast food is excellent (variety and quality) - normally presented in free.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Unique and different from other hotels, it’s very old and need serious remodeling. Very small bathroom (reminds me of place in London) located right next to entrance of Sarak national park. Food is overpriced and nasty, no room service (order food u have to go pay and pick up yourself?) I won’t recommend, there are plenty of other hotels nearby and cheaper.

Convenient location 5 minute walk to Seoraksan Park entrance. Bus stop to Sokcho right in front of hotel. Warm room and they upgraded to room with two double beds with mountain view, much appreciated. However, room service non-existent. Neither of the 2 hotel restaurants were open for dinner. We ordered dinner but food was terrible and we had to go down and pick it up from front desk. Front desk staff not always at front desk and often didn’t answer phone. No coffee or tea in rooms. Dated decor is fine but problem is hotel needs upkeeping— in front of our room was water stains on walls and peeling wallpaper. No gym or pool on premises. Despite all of above, price reasonable and would stay here again due to convenience to park entrance.
The hotel was right next to the Seoraksan national park entrance, maybe 200 meters from it, so very nice! We stayed one night, walls were a bit thin. If you’ve ever stayed in an older hotel in London, you’ll get the vibe. Would stay again if visiting Seoraksan.
This hotel is amazing because it's 5 min away from seorak mountain by walk and h staff were very kind and food is tasty and has a retired london double decker bus at outside and it's connected to n yang yang ic but hotel is close to seorak mountain so there were lot of cars especially holidays nice hotel near seorak mountain

Great breakfast buffet, closes hotel and walkable to the entry of the park, wonderful views with rooftop lounge. The hotel is very outdated though with a musky smell. I don't believe any of the furnishing have ever been updated. But we still enjoyed the hotel and would stay there again.
I chose this hotel because I only had one day to spend in the national park, and this hotel is right by the entrance so it's the most convenient. If you have several days though, I would stay in Sokcho and get the bus. The hotel is clearly old and needs upgrading. There is nothing around and the restaurant closed at 8pm I believe, so when I arrived late there was no options for food
My husband and I stayed here for two nights. We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel had the spacious and luxurious atmosphere. Staff were kind and room was clean, pleasant and had a beautiful Mountain view. Breakfast buffet selections were very nice and the dining room and the cafe at 9th floor also had a great view. The restaurant for dinner was a bit fancy, but also offer take-out chicken you can eat in your room. There are stores and restaurant near by if needed. The best part of the hotel was that you can walk to the park entrance and start hiking to the Seoraksan National Park right away.
Absolutely disgusting hotel. How on earth earth this place won any awards recently blows my mind. Or gets good reviews. I feel scammed by the reviews. The floors are uneven, notes on the bed telling you expect bugs from the outside and mold growing on walls everywhere. Everything smells musty and gross. Floor tacky. Our whole family were glad it was just one night. Breakfast is overpriced for what they offer. The trying to be british is a joke (I’m a brit). Sorry but this place needs demolishing. Its in a prime spot and thats the only thing going for it. The hotels in town look even worse from the outside. I’m baffled! How can such a popular national park area not have accommodations that are invested in? Do hikers not care about their health while asleep?!?! We only ended up here because I couldn’t get 2 nights I wanted in Sokcho. Stay in Sokcho and drive. Its like 15 min drive. Kensington is so gross, now every nasty thing my kids see is called “the Kensington” lol.
