Overall, I would not label this a luxury property. It is in dire need of a renovation. While the rooms are spacious with lovely balconies, the furniture is scuffed, bathroom mirrors are tarnishing, and the room was musty despite using the A/C. This is a family property and very kid-friendly, which is really great if your kids like pool time (be prepared to lie on old chaise lounge cushions). The staff was friendly and accommodating. However, there is massive confusion when trying to secure a cab from the lobby… differing wait times depending on who you ask. This property has good bones but unfortunately, badly needs updating and repair.

Requested high floor room and they put me right on the top floor, much appreciated! Nice resort to take kids, with the splash parks and pools. Not quiet relaxing time I wanted, property isn’t close to anything, $20 beers go down to quickly, and building is old and dated, not exactly Shangri la quality. Staff were great and friendly. Thanks for the stay

The island was beautiful and I selected the hotel for the beach location which was perfect! The only beach resort on the island. Beach was perfect, pool and spa was great and certainly can’t complain. The unfortunately part was I felt for the Shangrai-la hotel brand I was disappointed. It was dated and in need of a renovation… chairs, curtains, tables etc were stained dirt or damaged just really showing it’s age. I felt this in the restaurant and in our room. So it didn’t feel like a 5 star moment. Otherwise, great buffet breakfast and the location can’t be beat.

The hotel shows age in some areas, but I did see a lot of maintenance happening, so the hotel is doing something about it - more of a family-oriented resort, not advisable if you want adults only, kids everywhere!
