Raffles lives up to its reputation. The rooms are the pinnacle of luxury. The staff is the best possible, kind and courteous, always going above and beyond to help their residents. The property is immaculate, home to restaurants, bars, shops, and enough to do to occupy a whole day wandering around and enjoying the space. If you are able, a stay at Raffles is worth your while.

It’s beautiful, it’s grand, the staff is wonderful, there is unpretentious grandeur, there is history, there’s Tiffin, yes, there is Tiffin, there is…..I don’t know, it’s just perfect, absolutely perfect: we’re going back. And then this: we had forgotten to return our room keys at the end of our stay; on our way back through Singapore, we took a stroll through the area of the Raffles and decided to return our keys. The staff at the entrance greeted us with a smile and told us we shouldn’t have worried, that we could keep our key as a souvenir if we wished. And then he proceeded to get for us an old room key, from the days before the electronic versions: so now I have two sets of keys as souvenirs from the world’s absolute best hotel….we’re absolutely going back…

While housed in an historic building the hotel has been fully updated, providing impeccable quality accommodation with oversized rooms. What makes it very special is the exceptional service by a dedicated staff each of whom recognize each guest by name, the variety and quality of the restaurants and bars, and the history behind the hotel.

How fancy is raffles hotel? Well, it’s so fancy that if you’re in the front room, there are no less than 4 doors between you & the toilet! There’s a door between the sitting room & the bedroom, another between the bedroom & the closet area, a bathroom door, then a door to the toilet itself. When my girlfriend said she had to “go powder her nose,” I felt secure. With as much charm as I could muster I sweetly asked her to close all the doors. She shot back a look of cold malice, but with satisfaction, I heard her shut all of the doors. But after a few minutes, to my horror, wafted the most noxious odors. I’m sure my girlfriend won’t mind me, saying this, especially because she never reads these reviews. But if she does, darling, my computer has been hacked again. But seriously, if you’re going to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a hotel room, this is the place!

It’s an amazing hotel and staff were truly excellent!! That said, it’s a bit stuffy and not sure appropriate for anyone below the age 65. I would highly recommend it to anyone, but do keep in mind the rooms have no view, so they feel almost suffocating.

Probably the best hotel we have stayed at. The only problem is the cost of drinks. A manhattan in the Writers bar was $60.00 each and a miniature bottle of gin from the room mini bar was almost $90.00. These are excessive charges and I would not buy any alcoholic beverages at Raffles.

Fantastic place!

From the time we arrived to the time we left it felt like home away from home. The butler service provided was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for them Yu(sp?) and Fitrah really did the hotel proud The staff in Raffles Courtyard were lovely gentlemen also, particularly need to give Rai and Suren praise. Nazir who conducted the free historical tour of the hotel was an amazingly knowledgeable gentleman, well worth taking the tour which lasted 2 hrs, and he apologised for over running on time. Raffles is definitely the place to stay and would highly recommend it.
