The Hotel Yan is like a backpakers hotel for adults. The price of the rooms is very good, but they are very small. If you are traveling light you and your bags will fit in the room. The staff is great and always available. The area is very close to public transport and great food.

Clean and Quiet

Very clean, but the rooms are a bit small. It is in a quiet area with easy access to the subway and a variety of good restaurants and bars nearby. We would recommend it.

A good "Room only" Stay

It was what is was. A comfortable, clean and pleasing hotel room, but with no additional facilities of any sort, including restaurant, bar, laundry etc.

I had to book this hotel last minute from Canada for my daughter who was in Singapore. I actually called the front desk at midnight their time and they were so helpful and although they couldn't beat expedia prices they waited on the phone while I booked everything through Expedia - my daughter arrived a few minutes after I booked and said the place and the people were just amazing. Their balcony looked over a soccer pitch and they loved that. I would recommend for sure. I was really impressed with everything booking to the quality to the people.

Good location and very affordable, at least for the Singapore standards. Near the underground and not far away from the downtown, if you like to walk. However it can be noisy at the night time as the condition of the building is not the best (you will hear water flowing inside the pipes and other people even if they talk normally). Staff at reception is amazing and very helpful. Overall I’m happy with it.

Small but very special!

Due to Formular 1 the stay was really expensive - we paid a lot for one night. It was the smallest hotel room I have ever slept in (as a couple) - but it's setting is perfect, very modern! I would not want to stay more than 1 night (really too small), but it was clean and somehow special. And the people were extremely friendly and helpful!

Single room occupancy, which means tight corners. That said, excellent design in maximizing utility of space available. While one has to climb up small flight of stairs to the single bed, the space below fits small desk, a chair, a sofa, & (below the stairs) even a safe! Tiny fridge under the sink, which stands behind a separate shower stall (next to it a different toilet stall). Definitely great find for the solo budget traveler.

there are restaurants and coffee shop arounds the hotel which is convenient. Room is clean, just 3 comments on facilities, 1. I paid extra for balcony but plants outside are all died 2. the stepper for the rubbish bin is broken, so I need to open the cover by hand. 3. TV is not plugged until I request to front desk

compared to US hotels I'd give it a lower rating since the room was small comparatively and not much privacy (bathroom had see through walls with only a curtain to block from the rest of the room) HOWEVER, I understand it's another country with different standards, especially singapore where things I assume are smaller since land is more expensive, and houses/apts are smaller in general so I feel it's unfair to compare it like that. We also didn't spend much time in the hotel since we were out all the time, so the They had great hotel service, helped us quickly when we asked, in a great location (close to hawker centers, bus/mrt stops) But yeah anyways, my friend says 11/10 and I'll probably say 8/10
