"When you arrive at the hotel car park the outside looks lovely and is a real sun trap for outdoor drinks. It’s a bit tricky finding reception from the car park so better signage would be helpful. Some areas of the hotel feel a little worn like the red carpet on the reception stairs entrance and the bathroom area of the room I stayed in, and the jacuzzi was out of order on my stay too which was a little disappointing. Most of the staff were really friendly and helpful (bar staff, cleaners and spa in particular) but there were a couple of occasions when I wasn’t acknowledged by small groups of staff. The room was spacious, very clean and comfortable. The bar area had a good atmosphere and the food was really tasty! Thai red curry special was a highlight of my stay. Breakfast was also really good with plenty of options. The gym is really well equipped and wasn’t too busy. Overall it’s a good hotel but needs a bit of tidying up."

"We enjoyed our stay in Room 3. Beautifully decorated and comfortable. The shower isn't super powerful but okay. The owners were very helpful when we had an enquiry. We had breakfast at The Peach Tree which was lovely and also showed our booking to get 15% off. We will definitely stay again."

"The Lion Hotel is ideally situated to explore Shrewsbury on foot and you can leave your car on the property, pay at the desk rather than the machine for £5 per day. It is a property that is both historic and with character, having said that the communal areas looked very tired. The room was spacious with a high ceiling, brown furniture and bare floorboards which squeaked with every step so be aware if you are prone to waltzing in your sleep."

"Amazing pub/hotel"

"The room was clean and comfortable. Some areas looked tired. Paint work chipped in the room. But overall the room was clean and pleasant. We stayed over night in preparation for a wedding the next day. The staff were lovely and friendly. We stayed in the lounge area after a nice meal. Nice atmosphere. Breakfast was good and plenty of selection for breakfast. Really enjoyed the stay. There was plenty of Parking spaces. "

"Central location of hotel is excellent. The room I was initially allocated had damaged drawers but the staff willingly offered an alternative room which was fine. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful - thank you for a lovely stay x"
