I'm so pleased to have stayed at the Ared Villa. This is a great location - near the airport - and a great price - so affordable for the quick night or two after arriving or before departure from Colombo. The proprietor and his wife are the kindest people; they do a lot of good work for their community and the country (so please support them). There are at least 4 good restaurants within a 10-minute walk from this safe neighborhood.

My highlight was meeting the owner and his wife. So knowledgeable about many things. It was a delight to talk to them and learn about the culture. This is a small hotel but it was really well kept up and very clean. The bathroom was great - a kitchen to make coffee and tea and a small breakfast if you wanted it. Not many restaurants nearby, but one that is an 8 minute walk. I chose to eat there several times (named "Coffee Boss"). Great selection of cafe drinks and a great menu of food. Very plant atmosphere and servers. It was a perfect place to be that was close to the airport.

Tried calling the property in the morning on the day of checkin to inform our arrival around 10:30 pm, no one answers. The phone number listed on google is infact out of service. Tried few times on the other numbers incould find no answer. Then Inarrive around 10:30. Noone is there, propety is locked. Spent 1 hour trying to find with two kids around midnight how to check in. Went outside community found a guard he gave us a number. Called that number and some ladybtells us that they are closed for rennovation. I was why would you take reservation if you are close. Called expedia. Expedia took 45 mins to verify on there own and then told us they even cant get thru. Finally they booked us on diffrent hotel . In which we checked in around 2 am. 3 hours we have to just roam around around midnight in a new country, with 2 you g kids. Also the hotel expedia booked only had 1 bed where as original booking we booked had 2. We have to pay extra for roll away bed.
