Caladh Inn

"I found this hotel,friendly,welcoming, comfortable and clean. Breakfast gave plenty of choice including beautiful fresh fruit,all the British Breakfast components , yoghourts and cereals. The food for dinner consisted of two choices, a hot buffet or menu. The buffet choices were absolutely lovely, plenty to choose from and the menu was fun. Seafood skewer was of particular note! It is close to the ferry terminal and handy for Stornaway. Plenty Parking too. A really good experience."

"I had a very enjoyable stay at the Dunollie Hotel. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and my room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a great selection of food and a beautiful view to enjoy while eating. Overall, everything was very good, and I would happily stay here again."

"It was hard to find staff, especially for lunch. Our room was down a weird warren of hallways up steps and down steps. The room and bathroom were attractive. The pillows were awful! They wouldn’t fluff. It was a heatwave when we were there. The cleaning staff left the heater on. I was hot and couldn’t sleep. There wasn’t a fan to help move the air. Dinner was expensive and bland. The shower was difficult to get in and out of.There were no extras in the bathroom you would expect from the price point. Expensive all around for what you get. Bedding (especially pillows), bathroom extras, and a fan need to be updated."

"This hotel is like staying at a relatives house that has lived in the same house for 50 years. It's outdated but clean. Bathrooms were updated. Mattresses and pillows were fairly low end. Staff was friendly and accommodating overall. Parking is a bit of an adventure. Not many options for dining in the immediate area. The food from the hotel, both dinner and breakfast were good with nice variety. View is spectacular if you get a bay view"

"This was the best stay we’ve had on our Scotland trip. We had a sea view which was gorgeous, there are sheep everywhere which was a highlight, and they are quiet at night (in case you are wondering). The breakfast was included and had many delicious options. We ate at the restaurant for dinner as well and enjoyed all of our meals. The staff were super friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend staying here if you are planning a trip to Skye. It is also central, so well placed to get to all of the popular tourist attractions."
Tongadale Hotel

"We hardly had a wink of sleep in the tiny first floor room we were allocated at this pub (I hesitate to call it an hotel) because of the noise from the lively bar below. Even when the pub emptied some time after midnight the disturbance continued as staff quarters were situated directly above us and, once they left the bar, loudly creaking floorboards continued to keep us awake until much later. But when we went down for Sunday morning breakfast at 9.15 we were told it had finished at 9a.m. and, though we had been told on check-in it would be served until 10, the staff were unrelenting. Later I spoke to the manager who promised a refund for their error, but none has been forthcoming. The whole two-night experience was poor, we could not wait to leave!"

"The staff was very friendly and responsive. The food was very good. The hotel setting/location was a bit of a surprise, but easy walking distance to town. The hotel caters to groups/small tour buses, but then, most Portree hotels probably do as well. Dinner reservations in town are hard to get, so book in advance."
