"We recently stayed at Hotel Carmel and overall had a pleasant experience. The hotel is in an excellent location, within walking distance to restaurants, shopping, the Third Street Promenade, and the Santa Monica Pier, which made exploring the area very easy and convenient. The staff was friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, and valet service was smooth and helpful. The hotel itself has an older charm, and while some features felt a bit dated, everything was kept very clean and neat. The room was comfortable, and the property overall felt well maintained. The biggest downside was the noise level inside the hotel. You could hear nearly every footstep from the room above, and the walls and ceilings didn’t seem to block much sound. Street and traffic noise from outside was noticeable as well, although it honestly wasn’t as disruptive as the noise coming from neighboring rooms and overhead. Overall, it’s a solid choice if you value location, cleanliness, and friendly service, especially for walking around Santa Monica, but lighter sleepers may want to bring earplugs."
