We had a wonderful stay at Peumayen Atacama and would not hesitate to stay here again. The staff were all incredibly friendly and were very helpful in advising the best time to visit certain attractions. The facilities including the kitchen and pool were clean, spacious and well maintained. Dedicated parking was plentiful and the whole site was very secure. The property is located in a quiet and relaxed area whilst still being well connected to main roads. This means it is only a short drive into the centre of San Pedro de Atacama and the main attractions outside of the town are easily accessible.

Perfect place to stay. It's only a short drive from San Pedro with restaurants and shops. Bus tours picked us up from the hostel. Lovely big shared kitchen which was always clean and tidy. Lovely pool and plenty of seating area around. We stayed for 6 nights and loved it.

The property was situated in a tranquil setting. It was a bit to find the place in the beginning. Once you get to the hotel you will fall in love with it. The owner and the front office lady were kind and helpful. We wish we could stay there longer

It's really a small oasis in the desert. Warming and attending staff. A very well equipped kitchen for guests to cook if they see a need. Excellent surroundings. A perfect place to stay for a few days if you have your own transportation.

We had a great stay at the location. This is the right place if you are looking for peace and being outside the buzz of the city. Carlos is a super nice and helpful host. The kitchen area is very well equipped. We would definitely go again. A car is recommended.

Highly Recommended!

Staying at the Peumayen Atacama was the highlight of our stay in the Atacama Desert. Our place was lovely, clean and quiet. Carlos was amazing, he was always friendly, helpful and a joy to stay at his lodge. We miss him and are looking forward to returning one year soon just to come back and stay here again!!!

Amazing host and property, stargazing views

Thanks to Carlos for being an amazing host, my friends and I felt so welcomed and safe and comfortable on the property. It is a little farther from city center so plan accordingly, Carlos was so gracious to pick us up, but it was also easy to ask for a local number to get taxi. The rooms are way more spacious than in the center and felt like a ranch, with amazing lounge areas, a pool, and views all around of Valle de la Luna and the stars

The Peumayen Atacama / Hostal & Cabaña is a family-run hotel located a few kilometers south of SPDA just east of the entrance to Valle de la Luna. If you desire being immersed in the dust and congestion of San Pedro proper, this property is not for you. It is a large compound with comfortable rooms, friendly staff, large common spaces, large shared kitchen/dining facility, pool and game room. It is gated & secure with plenty of covered parking (yes, you will need a car for best access to sites in and around SPDA and use of hotel /facilities).

Good for family stay

It was a spacious room but lacking appropriate facilities - toilet does not flush well and soiled toilet papers have to be collected in a garbage bin. We also found many spiders on our beds but we did open the windows, which did not have screens. Otherwise, the cabanas has many recreational facilities, e.g. swimming pool, ping pong tables etc.

This is an awesome place. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, the grounds well-kept and inviting. The location is quiet with terrific night-sky views. There’s a pool if you’d like to take a day off from seeing the Atacama. It’s gated and has parking. All-in-all, highly recommended. A few things to consider — you need a car to stay here. It’s in Coyo, which is a few miles outside of San Pedro de Atacama proper and there’s no public transport. Also, almost no English is spoken at the property. Not an issue for us and for most you should be able to navigate and make your needs known with a few words of Spanish and 21st Century technology.

Incredible.

What an incredible place to stay! If you have a car in Atacama, this is just perfect ! We stayed with our family and enjoyed the apartment and facilities dearly . The apartment was comfortable and perfect. It had everything we needed to cook, dine, lounge, and enjoy ourselves. My kids loved the pool , trampoline , fusball table , ping pong , hammocks and the board games . Most of all the warmth of the owner Juan Carlos. We will sincerely miss him . You couldn’t ask for a more caring and hospitable man . He gave such thorough advice for what to do , where to eat , etc. We’ll miss you Juan Carlos !

Very nice lodge, a short drive from town. Rooms are large and well equipped; same as shared kitchen. Common areas are very nice. Wifi is slow to non-existent in bedroom; one has to go to common areas for weak signal.

En terminos generales el hostel está bien, las habitaciones son cómodas y de buen tamaño, tiene suficiente espacio para estacionamiento y está ubicado en una zona segura y tranquila aunque un poco alejado de San Pedro de Atacama pero si se tiene un vehículo para transportarse esto no sería un problema, también rentan bicicletas para quienes quieren utilizar este medio de transporte. Hay que tener presente que algunos operadores de tours no prestan el servicio de recogida en este hotel por su ubicación pero hay otros que si lo ofrecen. Sería ideal contar con TV y nevera tipo minibar en las habitaciones. En las noches hace mucho frío en la zona y por lo tanto sería conveniente que tuvieran calentadores de espacio (nosotros solicitamos uno y nos fue prestado)

Sehr schöne Anlage, ruhig gelegen ca. 10 min. Autofahrt von San Pedro. Der Valle de la Luna sowie der Valle de Marte sind in wenige Minuten (2 bzw. 5) mit dem Auto zu erreichen. Wir (und unsere Kinder) haben alles sehr genossen: den klaren Sternehimmel vom Garten aus, den Pool-Bereich, den Essbereich vor unserer Cabaña sowie den Trampolin, den Kicker und den Tischtennis. Idealer Ort für alle, die den Trübel und die Turistenmassen von San Pedro vermeiden möchten und lieber für sich die Stille genießen. Unsere Cabaña war sehr bequem und liebevoll eingerichtet. Einen besonderen Dank gilt Dayana, die Managerin, die uns sehr freundlich empfangen hat, immer zur Verfügung stand wenn wir Fragen hatten, und uns tolle Tipps für Ausflüge gegeben hat: Sie macht diese Anlage zu einem besonders schönen und einladenden Ort! Alles in allem hatten wir einen herrlichen Aufenthalt und empfehlen die Unterkunft uneingeschränkt weiter.
