"Our 2 bedroom villa was beautifully furnished with a modern kitchen and gorgeous outdoor space around a private pool. The indoor outdoor shower in the master bedroom was amazing. This villa has separate air conditioning in both bedrooms and the living room. Having a washer/dryer was a nice bonus. These villas are situated in a gated community on top of a hill overlooking the Maya flats about 15 minutes outside Xunantunich. You definitely need AWD to access your villla. Gaia Riverlodge
5/5 Excellent
"Gaia was INCREDIBLE. The property is gorgeous, the rooms are beautiful, the scenery is stunning, and yet the best part is the fantastic service. We felt like friends with Freddy and Javier by the time we left. Greg was also a wonderful tour guide. And Colby helped us decide on and book adventures. They all made us feel right at home! un fact, they didn’t let us check in until we’d had a welcome drink and sat down for a lovely candlelit dinner. And speaking of the restaurant - the food and drinks on the property are really great which is good because unless you have 4WD you’re unlikely to be going elsewhere to eat. Expect to pay American prices for food and drinks but it’s worth it as almost all (if not all) the food is grown right there on the property - everything’s incredibly fresh and delicious. My favorite part was lounging down by the waterfall or sitting on our balcony overlooking it, listening to the sounds of the jungle. "

Wonderful Lodge, Lovely People
"This lodge was amazing, the room was clean and big, the whole site was gorgeous with so many huge plants and trees! There is also a small hike you can do around the lodge. The pool is great and the set up around it is really peaceful.
The staff is really nice and so helpful. They gave us a map to walk downtown, which is 15-20 mins by foot. We were 3 girls and never got worried about walking around. We took a cab to come back to the lodge at night since it’s on top of a hill and it gets dark at 6:30 there. The taxi fare was pretty cheap, around 10-15 BZE (you need to ask the driver for the price and negotiate before you get in the taxi).
Also the clerk at the front desk of the lodge booked all the activities we did during our stay. The company they suggested was very good. We did Actun Tunichill on the first day, Xunantunich and Nohoch Che’en (highlight of our trip) on the second day and Caracol with the Rio pools on our last day.
The lodge also has a cute little restaurant that is managed by a separate group of employees. You can book the restaurant with the reception and choose your meal in advance so when you get to your table it’s almost ready and you don’t have to wait. This was very useful especially on the mornings when we had to leave early for our daily activities.
We really enjoyed exploring San Ignacio, but it was also great to have a cool place to hang after our day. Would 100% recommend The Maya Mountains Lodge ! "
