Disappointed! It didn’t start well! No message with the code to get onto the harbour, then given an incorrect code, which took a member of staff to come and test it and then had to ask a bus driver for it. Then to find a couple who had the correct code, were checking in just in front of us - how did they get the right code?! Check in was ok, although we were left hanging around and not told our room was ready.
Bar and restaurant service not the best! Left waiting at the bar - not even acknowledged for about 10 mins while other orders made and tidying up done. Breakfast - oh dear! Initial waiter, took the order by memory and got it wrong. Then when we asked another waiter for the missing pastry, told the pastry ordered had run out, so ordered a pain au chocolate. Then told had run out of croissants and we could have chocolate bread - erm that’s what we asked for; for the waiter to then turn up with a croissant in his hand and to announce he’d found one! Other guests told us they had had problems too.
Check out - ok until the hotel tried to charge us for a dinner we hadn’t had - we only had one breakfast. It was removed from our bill.
On the positive the hotel is as lovely as ever and the valet service was very good. If you are 5 star Hotel, the service seriously needs sorting out and quickly!
Great staff. Beautiful building. Great food.
Only one small thing to improve - should have given us the security code to lower a bollard and enable us to drive down the road to the hotel.
Amazing property and very special place to say
Staff were excellent , especially Veronique and Stan who went over and above with their service.
Housekeeping need a special thank you too. Everywhere was immaculate
A lovely hotel. We stayed 4 nights in Jul/Aug 2020. The staff were superb (especially helpful with restaurant reservations) the hotel was very clean and the location could not be better.
One small negative - we had 2 garden view rooms between the 4 of us. Our daughters shared a room which has a fantastic shower - good pressure and coverage. Our room had an old-fashioned shower attached to the bath - low pressure and not as good. But this is a very small point - we recommend the hotel and will go back next year.
One other point about the hotel. The website shows a swimming pool. It makes it clear that this is in a sister hotel. The sister hotel is only about 5 minutes walk away but bear in mind that the pool is not a big pool and there are only a few sun loungers.
A few tips from our experience:
- The hotel restaurant is reputed to be the best in town but we didn't try it because it is in a tiny courtyard with no view or atmosphere. There are lots of excellent restaurants in town and we prefer a more lively atmosphere.
- For similar reasons we did not have breakfast in the hotel. You can get a lovely continental breakfast in one of the many cafes lining the harbour.
- Get yourselves some bicycles and ride over to the other coast. There are couple of beach bars at Beach Gollandieres which we enjoyed.
- There are no places on the beach where you can rent sun loungers or shades. If you want these then buy yourselves some umbrellas in one of the towns.

Close to town centre and activities. Excellent Restuarant’s

Perfection in Ile de Re
An amazing hotel. Right in the middle of town. We will definitely return soon and are very happy to have found such a “gem”.

5stars in every single way
Absolutely fabulous hotel in the heart of the marina, the staff, service, food and accommodation were faultless
Saint Martin is a gem of a location
Highly r
This is a lovely hotel.Beautiful decor, impeccable service, very comfortable ad clean. No complaints at all. It is of course expensive but well worth it if you are up for a treat.
The location is excellent. St Martin in August is pretty busy on the quayside, and the hotel courtyard was a very peaceful retreat.
Very obliging with a lift to a different town and organising a cab for us.
Not to forget, there is a sister restaurant a few minutes walk away which has a lovely garden to sit in and a pool area. It was never noisy. Just a few couples and on or two families.
