NH Marina Portimao Resort
8/10 Good
"Really nice place in a good location at the far end of the beach which was a five minute walk away and close to some nice beach front restaurants but fairly quiet and away from the noisier areas of Praia da Rocha. Rooms were spacious and well maintained with side on views of the river and passing boats. Breakfast/dining area was great with options to sit inside if too hot or outside on a terrace overlooking the marina and river traffic. The quality and choice of food at breakfast was excellent. The pool is pretty big which meant it didn’t feel crowded with three or four small groups of people playing throw and catch. There was also plenty of sun loungers. The downsides … when we arrived at 3.30pm one of our rooms was not ready. We were told it would be roughly 30 minutes but it was over an hour before we gained access. We managed because we had two rooms booked and were given a drinks voucher for the inconvenience. But arriving at that time we didn’t expect to have to wait. Which leads to the other negative point. The cleaning system was disorganised and meant that our rooms were not always cleaned when we wanted. We went out at 10.30 one day and returned at 5.30 to find our room had not been cleaned despite having the sign on our door. On other occasions, the cleaning was pretty cursory - limited to towels being folded and the bed made. Not the end of the world but slightly disappointing."

"The rooms were clean and well maintained. The staff were fantastic! Always ready to help. They give you vouchers for towels which you can use at the pool or on the beach. The pool was clean and staff were on hand to help. They helped with questions we had about places we wanted to visit. The location is fantastic! Very central to places to eat, night life, karaoke bars, shops, supermarkets, the beach is literally 2 mins walk and the uber pick up point is right in front of the hotel. Huge selection of food options at breakfast and dinner. The seafood night menu was superb! There is live music by the pool in the evenings as well. Overall 5* definitely. Thank you Jupiter Algarve for a lovely stay."

"We had a family suite for 4 people which was very spacious and had a good size kitchen. Room was clean and well maintained. The breakfast was always good and the location was perfect. It was a 2 min walk to the beach and lots of bars and restaurants near by with good food choices."

"Lovely location amazingly helpful caring staff - lovely pool - better for adults than children I guess but a fifty something couple we had an amazing stay - with a hire car easy reach of lovely beaches and shops etc . Highly recommended thank you Penina Staff"
