Rione Monti is known for its bohemian atmosphere and proximity to some of Rome’s famous historical sites. Shop in boutique fashion stores and wander along the cobblestone streets of this historic area.

Shop in a vintage market for antique cameras and home goods. Take a walking tour of the famous Colosseum or stroll through a large public park and admire ancient sculptures. Visit the nearby Basilica di Santa Francesca Romana, a beautiful 12th-century Roman church. This traditionally working-class district is a great place to experience an authentic Roman lifestyle.

The Colosseum is a short walk from the center of Rione Monti. Take a guided tour and learn the history of this giant oval amphitheater. Wander through the calm streets of Rione Monti. Peruse bookstores and organic markets. This area has numerous local art galleries and vintage clothing stores. At the historic gathering area of Piazza della Madonna dei Monti, admire the two-tiered Renaissance fountain.

Reach Rione Monti and the Colosseum easily from the Colosseo metro station. Use the neighborhood as a starting point for a historic walking tour or stay in Rione Monti to simply enjoy the atmosphere as you stroll along the gently slanting cobblestone streets.
