"Unfortunately our prepaid reservation from several months ago was not known the to staff working the reception. Our party had hiked to the this location (all day hike) and was turned away. The hotel did find another available accommodation with a different property in another town and drove our party there - however would have to pay all over again, and none of the amenities important to us. "The hotel is perfectly located at the top of the town, just a few minutes’ walk from the Black Forest hiking trail. The rooms offer beautiful views of the surrounding greenery. The owner, Ingolf, truly cares about sustainability and has decorated the hotel with this in mind, while still staying true to its original character. "The rooms are a bit run down with bathroom facilities and lighting that are still in the 70s. The hotel says has a wellness center with pool, but this is an overstatement. The pool is maybe 10 mt long, the sauna is ok, the changing room is something between a storage room and a doctor's. the restaurant is ok, but nothing special with the waiting staff that could be more friendly "

"Our stay was three days, the staff were friendly and very helpful from the moment we arrived. The pool and spa areas were superb, and having Black Forest Gateaux with a pot of tea by the pool was not something we expected to be able to do - but very memorable. The breakfast was epic, it’s plain to see how very proud the chefs are, and this is reflected in the quality and range of breakfast items available. We had guest e bikes (at no charge) we explored the local forest area, this made the hills very easy to navigate - the bikes were of excellent quality. "

"We had a lovely stay in a family suite. Spacious and modern. We would have liked a balcony, however. The beds were comfortable enough, the internet worked great, even when we had several devices connected. The staff are helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet doesn't have loads of choice, but is tasty. The evening meals are the same. A small amount of options and small portions, but delicious. The pools are great and the pool area is clean, with complimentary tea, coffee and water to drink. The walks around the hotel reward you with stunning views."
