"We had the most lovely stay at Antico Borgo Etneo. Conveniently located 5 minutes from the train station, the property is gorgeous, our room was very clean and relatively cool considering we were in the middle of a heat wave. Great hospitality and a scrumptious breakfast (we’ll be thinking about that lemon chiffon cake for ages). We would stay again the next time in Calatabiano. Grazie a tutti!"

"The stay had much to be desired. Check in was at 2. When we arrived at 2 we were told it would be about another hour as they were not ready. It was about 35 to 40 mins and the room was ready. When we got to our room we were told that the TV and the fridge dont work. Unfortunately I had to be a bit of a complainer. "The hotel has an amazing setting, and the swimming pool in particular was really lovely. Although the décor is somewhat old-fashioned, everything was very well kept and maintained, which gave the hotel a certain charm. The staff was very friendly and helpful. However, I was disappointed by the bathroom facilities, particularly the shower. For a hotel of this calibre, the shower was shockingly basic and felt very cheap. My friend, who is almost 83 years old, had to climb over a high-sided bathtub in order to take a shower. He specifically requested a room with a walk-in shower, but unfortunately none was available. I believe this is a significant health and safety concern, particularly for older guests, as climbing into and out of a high bathtub can present a genuine risk of falling. The breakfast was also disappointing and, in my view, below the standard I would expect from a hotel of this quality. Overall, the beautiful setting, pool and well-maintained surroundings are definite positives, but the bathroom facilities and breakfast need considerable improvement to match the standard expected of the hotel."

"This hotel is situated just on the edge of the main city on an unbelievably beautiful cliff in Taormina overlooking the beaches and bays below. Really breathtaking views - highly recommend splurging for the balcony. The pool was also very pretty, though we did not end up eating or drinking poolside. The bedrooms/bathrooms were pretty basic, but clean. Breakfast was not included, but at 22 euro, we did not partake. ***The one thing to note - the entrance to the hotel is at the bottom of an incredibly steep, roughly 250 foot-long hill. I'm talking 30-40 degree incline. There are stairs in the center of the road, but it's a hike. Like, we were out of breath every time we left the hotel. I couldn't recommend this hotel to anybody with mobility issues that is not planning on being driven from the hotel entrance every time they travel.*** But the views are unbeatable."

"This was one of the best experiences we’ve had, and really appreciate the staff at this beautiful hotel. The space is lovely, as are the rooms. The location is incredible and the views can’t be beat. Finally, the team there were so helpful and genuinely invested in our comfort. They went way out of their way to accommodate vegan diets and did an incredible incredible job. Easily in the top 5 of our hotel experiences and could be the top spot. Highly recommended!"
