El Youssoufia

Rabat

The most surprising place in Morocco
Roman ruins abandoned thousands of years ago now home to cats and storks.
It's breathe taking.
The minaret of the Abou Youssef Yacoub mosque. I didn't notice until I posted this photo, that the fretwork on this minaret (dating to the 13tj-14th cen.) is the same style as the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca (which is a modern mosque, built in traditional style).

The main gate to the Chellah Necropolis, under restoration.

Originally the Port of Sala, its residents took the name of their town and reestablished themselves across the estuary. Chellah was used as a burial site for the Merinid sultans during the 13th-14th centuries.

I would recommend this place for its dedicated staff. Especially Mr. Saïd the restaurant and breakfast Manager. What a sweet and professional person. Very dedicated and always serving with a smile. Can you imagine how busy this place was during Africa Cup? Thank you Saïd and to all the staff.
