Bed really comfortable, restaurant under staffed and under stocked. No desserts available at dinner at all. Had to eat in the bar as they had a group of 150 booked into the restaurant for lunch the next day.
Bar tender was very friendly and attentive. Had to wait 10 minutes for receptionist to arrive so I could check out.
We arrived late at night, actually it was more like early morning. Rio Amazonas is one of the few hotels that will let you check in that late. Check in was swift and we got a broom with a magnificent view over the city and Cotopaxi. The room was clean, the beds comfortable and the bathroom brand new and beautiful. Breakfast is fabulous and the staff is very friendly. Not sure about the neighborhood yet, but it looks fine.
Nice hotel near Plaza Foch. Restaurant had a nice variety of Ecuadorian plates and seafood especially! Wife and I loved the huge king bed, city views, and hot shower. Only thing I would give 4 stars is the breakfast buffet but compared to other places it’s still quite yummy!
Amazing service! They allowed us to store our luggage for 4 days when we went to the Galapagos - made that trip so much easier! Great breakfast, menu service for other meals. Bar mixes great drinks. Stay was perfect!!

Breakfast buffet had different options which was good. When I asked for jam for the bread I was told it was finished, by the solo female waitress. I asked butter instead, but she said they don't have any. 2 minutes later she produced a small amount of both. Hotel was well decorated for Christmas season. 3 male staff I encountered were polite. 3 female staff all appeared to have lost the will to work. Bed was very comfortable. Shower flooded all over the bathroom floor. You could hear nearby nighttime disco music until the early hours of the morning. I was only there one night
Our PM restaurant waiter and bartender was great. I think his name was Norbert. Rooms were cleaned, the food wasn’t great but not bad either. AM front desk staff weren’t too accommodating, however pm FD and night auditor were nice and friendly.
The hotel itself was fairly nice for the location with very comfortable beds, TV, refrigerators and bottles of water. It was a little dated but comfortable. Staff was helpful at check in and with a late checkout. Breakfast was nice and dinner restaurant decent but under staffed when we were there. The neighborhood is a little noisy on certain nights.
The staff was wonderful - personal and attentive, but the room was tired and had no AC or fan. The light-blocking blinds were broken. I didn't feel 100% safe in the neighborhood. I chose this place for the affordable price but would spend more for a better place next time.
The hotel is quite dated. Staff did not appear to be very friendly. All business. Food options limited and not restocked well for breakfast. Lack of air flow through the hotel meant that there was a stench, some kind of unpleasant odor when we got off the elevator, on to our floor. The only window that opens in the room was stuck behind a heavy immovable curtain, which did not allow for good air flow. No fridge and not many options for ice if you want cold drinks or food in your room. Canceled all 9 rooms and moved our group to a different hotel after the first night. This hotel is also not in a great location. It is heavily fortified, locked up at night.
Great hotel in a good location for walking around. Emelio, & Sebastian on the front desk couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. They got us a driver called Javier who was a god send. He drove us on trips and twice to the airport. Last but not least the fabulous Fernando in the bar. A true friend. Made our stay very pleasurable!
We got robbed unfortunately on the street and they all went out of there way to help. Definitely will stay again on my return.
Great value! Lovely room with king size bed, nice linens and awesome view with large windows. Breakfast buffet is fine and dinners are great traditional dishes. I’ll be back.
