It's a historic hotel of years past. But a great find for the money. Personally we really liked it. Small and quaint. Make sure you get a room with a private if you need one. Stairs are steep. Breakfast is a nice touch. Location excellent.

The Hotel was very nice. It's very old so some of stair creek. But the rooms were very clean and fairly good size for a very hotel. The staff was very nice and were very happy to help with directions to get around town. There were only a few restaurants near there within walking range. But the Thai Restaurant next door is one of the best that I've ever been too. The location is very good too as it doesn't take long to the downtown or promenade sections.

Quirky old 3 story hotel 20-30 min walk from the central Portland area with much pricier hotels, museum, waterfront, etc. All basics fine, aircon works well & quietly, free parking/cold breakfast/coffee. Be aware: 1) some rooms shared bath: 2) most rooms up 1-3 steep narrow staircases; no elevator.

Clean and friendly. Would not be a place for people who have trouble with stairs. The location seemed removed from waterfront activities but Portland is quite small and walkable. We would return. Suggestion: With the shared bathroom, an exhaust fan and or air fresheners would go a long way.

This would not be the place for everyone. No elevators, window unit ac,tight quarters. But the ease, cleanliness and very attentive staff more than make up for anything!!! Right across the street from Maine Med center! A perfect stay!

loved the charm of the old building and the furnishings. Breakfast was very good with many options considering the limited space. glad we had a room on the 1st floor as it looked like it would have been hard for us at our age (72) to climb the stairs with luggage. parking was a challenge but your solution with using a nearby lot was great.

We stayed in a room with a bathroom in it as we preferred that over a shared bathroom. The room was right off the lobby but it was not noisy at all. The room was spacious with a small table and 2 chairs. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The shower had great water pressure but it did drip when not in use. The continental breakfast was pretty standard. Parking at the Inn was limited but we had use of another lot the next street over. The location was perfect as we were going to a Sea Dogs game and it was only a 5 minute walk from the Inn. Overall we had a good stay and would come back.

The staff was very friendly and the hotel itself is well kept however I booked a room with a shared bathroom and the bathroom was locked the entire time (with a sign that said “in use” and I wasn’t able to use it at all.

Just know what you are getting into. Super quaint spot with very helpful staff in a very urban area. Our room had the AC unit pointed at the head of the bed and noise from the city made it difficult to have windows open. To get to rooms you are climbing steep narrow staircase up to three floors. Breakfast was nice. Proprietor was a gem.

Loved this Inn, clean and staff were so friendly and helpful. Only downfall is no elevator, so if you are on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th floors, you are hiking your luggage up narrow stairs. But . . . the stay was worth it, plus one gentleman helped us with luggage. Very small breakfast area, but was good.
