"Set on a working farm in beautiful countryside with far reaching views. The property was lovely & clean & contained everything needed for a relaxing stay. A very comfortable bed, a lovely shower with plenty of hot water & the property was lovely & warm. There was plenty if onsite parking. Ambleside Salutation Hotel & Spa

10/10 Excellent

"The breakfast was freshly cooked and it was really flexible choice from the menu. There was a full continental choice including porridge and whiskey and fruit and pastries. The staff were exceptional and you could see them being flexible across all areas of the hotel to make sure guests did not need to wait for anything. The parking was easily accessible and there was a spa and gym facilities that we didn't use as we had not prepared but when we go back we will definitely pack out swimming costumes"

"Last minute booking. Hotel is nice overlooking the lake with excellent spa. Dinner was excellent. We stayed in room 3 on the ground floor. There was a musty smell walking down the corridor. The room was clean and spacious and overlooked the lake but a bit tired looking. Most of the staff were very friendly but the girl that checked us in was so unhelpful. We had never stayed here before she just gave us the key and some gingerbread and said straight down the corridor room 3 turn left. Gave us no information on the facilities of the hotel. We did not know you could pay a surcharge and use the outdoor spa area. We didn’t know there were 3 restaurants. She just could have sold the hotel and its facilities much more to us and explained options. If I was to stay here again I would look for a room in the newer block of the hotel and book the extra spa service. I did have a treatment in the spa and it was excellent. Overall a nice hotel but the reception staff are your first point of contact they need to be welcoming friendly and informative."

"The room was clean, but overall the hotel felt dated and in need of refurbishment. There was noticeable wear and damage to the skirting boards and furnishings, and the same could be said for the third-floor corridors and the lift. While the bathroom was in slightly better condition, it still felt tired and could do with updating. There was also no fridge in the room. The walls were extremely thin, meaning noise from neighbouring rooms carried very easily. I’m not usually a light sleeper, but I can imagine this would be a significant issue for many guests. The bar area looked pleasant enough, although I didn’t use it myself. I also chose not to have breakfast, as the additional £18 per day for my two-night stay felt overpriced. On the positive side, the location is very good - it’s only a short walk into the town centre, with two lovely parks nearby. There’s also a scenic walk to Threlkeld along the converted railway line, which starts near the leisure centre just a couple of minutes away. The route is around 6.4 miles there and back. Overall, I feel I would have been better off spending a little extra to stay somewhere of a higher standard. Even a Premier Inn would likely have been an improvement. The main advantage of the Keswick Country House Hotel was the included on-site parking."
