"The property is rather new so everything is quite clean. The bed was a bit lumpy. The heating was temperamental and shut off in the middle of the night when it was the coldest. They did follow up with me on the second night to assure me they had fixed it, but it still shut off in the middle of the night for the second night in a row. I would still recommend this place because the communal kitchen makes a big difference in comfort and convenience. Just put on a sweater at night as it gets...

"Alpenhotel Allgau has a good location in Schwangau, close to the Neuschwanstein Castle, Hohenschwangau Castle, Museum of the Bavarian kings. The rooms were small and the beds were rather hard. The breakfast was a essentially a continental breakfast of rolls and coffee. The signage is poor and the entrance is hard to spot. Check in was easy but checkout was difficult because their credit card processing machine didn't work and had to be re-started.I wouldn't stay there again but rather will plan...

"Staying here was a fluke, and one of the highlights of my three visits to the Allgau region, in fact I would go as far as to say my three trips to Germany. I should point out I enjoy climbing in the mountains of NZ, so the rolling hill country that this area covers was a great relaxing way to meet both the country and the people. "This is one of the best hotels anywhere. The location is gorgeous, the staff are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and capable. Every single interaction with all of them over a 3-day stay was pleasant and positive. The breakfast is outstanding and the views are stunning. The room is large, comfortable, and clean. There is nothing that needs to be improved…this place is perfect . My only regret is that I didn’t book a longer stay. LOVE this hotel and absolutely recommend it! A jewel of the Bayern region and a working model of German precision and attention to detail. Stay here or you will truly have missed out."
