"We were given a room that was full of mildew. When we turned on AC to help it too smelled of mold. When I spoke to manager she said previous person did not complain, which just tells me they have poor quality control. (And that she was dismissing my concern). My son started coughing due to conditions and we talked to front desk about checking out early. Turns out when we first arrived I signed a form allowing no early check outs. Just make sure you look at room before you sign their paperwork. After we complained they moved us to a room more in keeping with how the rooms were advertised. So I think we were given a room that had not been renovated yet. In short, I agree with some of the other reviews, motel quality and staff not very friendly. Also if healthy food important to you- be aware they have margarine not butter, not the freshest ingredients. I thought given price, I was paying for better quality that just wasn’t there. For additional context- the sheets were thin, had stains, and back porch had sewer smell. "

"We loved staying at Chachagua and would highly recommend it to anyone considering. The property is sprawling, with so much available onsite to enjoy. We took advantage of the coffee and chocolate tour, the cooking class, and the night tour on property. All were excellent. Additionally, Chachagua’s location is perfect for seeing Costa Rican wildlife. In less than 48 hours, we saw nearly everything we had only hoped we would see. The staff are friendly, the onsite guides are amazingly knowledgeable, and the quality of the hot springs are really nice. We also booked tours through the hotel that were in La Fortuna, ~30 minute drive. Those were also well coordinated and well communicated. We can’t say enough good things about our stay! "

"Breakfast was fantastic every morning. Great variety to suit everyone. The entire property was spotless, including the room!! Everything is very well maintained. Majority of staff were incredibly friendly, polite and helpful. Drinks at the bar were lovely and happy hour every evening was a nice surprise, although the menu is much smaller. "

"Absolutely stunning place. As a photographer, it was hard to get through my head that a place like this can exist, with so much wildlife and scenery, without being staged. It was real and natural. Crossing the field to the restaurant, I was focused on a Parakeet up in the tree, then two Scarlet Macaws flew overhead and a Ringed Kingfisher showed up with a fish, just outside of the restaurant’s balcony! Can’t forget about the Howler Monkey that showed up also! The food was amazing, farm to table. Each morning we saw workers bringing up fresh pineapple and plantains from their fields. The staff was amazing!! Sorry we were almost late to dinner every night 😂 Hope to be back soon!"
