"The pool is definitely the highlight for this property. Large pool with loungers and ability to access shade was great for relaxation. Showers and bathrooms beside the pool area were appreciated. Rooms were clean but in need of a refresh. Kitchen had a good amount of supplies but needed a microwave and better lighting when cooking or working at the counter. "The reviews are quite strong for this property, and they don't even do it justice. This place, the people, service and overall vibe is just phenomenal. Yes, the breakfast is to die for, yes, the service is top notch, but the decor, age and fact that the hotel is an old church cannot be experienced ANYWHERE else. We enjoyed relaxing massages, chilled in the pool and jacuzzi, and simply took in everything Porta di Castro had to offer. The location is prime as well. Its not on a main avenue but close enough to the action that its not a problem - in fact its preferred. We definitely were lucky in finding and choosing Porta di Castro. Thanks for the great memories, in a gem of city. "

"The staff was not very helpful. We went to the reception 4 times for various questions, and only once they were friendly. Worst part was that the air conditioner did not work. When I asked the receptionist about this, they said they have turned them off and will not turn them back on. It was very warm and noisy in Palermo, and even with the window open, it was not very comfortable in addiction to the noise."

"Very difficult to get into the hotel - staffing seemed non-existent; this property is less of a “hotel” and more of an air b and that offers “light” pastries, coffee and juice for the most minimal breakfast I had in several Italian hotels. Very unfriendly environment. The building itself is stunning, but calling this a hotel is overreach."

"Hotel was lovely the staff were very helpful and house keeping did a great job looking after our room. We also struggled with the air conditioning which will be a problem in the height is summer also pool wasn’t open The down side was the location it proved very costly to get taxis. There was a shuttle that was brilliant but left the city at 5.30 pm so if you were out later the taxi was 40+€"
