The Maiden City Hotel

"We paid for breakfast and we were very disappointed 😞 maybe add hot breakfast to the menu I would have given 5"

"The hotel is under refurbishment (however it has halted and 3 years in no work was being undertaken during our stay). The room was a family room (as I was travelling with my daughter and grand daughter) and can only be described as grubby...the walls and the furniture both dirty. The bathroom skirting dirty with dust. In the recent heat we were provided with a totally inadequate fan, replaced after a conversation with the manager. In fairness he understood our disappointment with the "surprise" of the refurbishment. However the tired and worn state of everything is unacceptable if you are still "open for business" during this lengthy refurbishment. The lift mirrors were scratched, the furniture in the temporary bar area dirty and worn. We chose not to eat breakfast in the hotel so can't comment on it. We did have an evening meal (complimentary) and we all enjoyed it very much. We did not require parking so cannot comment on that. My overall impression was of disappointment. Having stayed in The City previously it was my immediate choice. However had I been informed when booking that a refurbishment was underway I would have chosen to book elsewhere in this occasion."

"Staff were all very polite and helpful, but the hotel is opposite a construction site and our room was facing the road and the site, so it was very noisy and as we stayed for 5 nights, it was becoming unbearable, if we were staying longer, I would have asked for another room facing the car park. It was a good base for us as we were driving around Northern Ireland on holiday and wanted a spot in the centre which we could set out from each day."
