The hotel is located a bit of a walk to the tourist zone, where you can find restaurants and coffee shops. That said, Palenque itself has a lot of nice restaurants to choose from, and the downtown area felt safe to walk around. Personally I would stay closer to downtown next time.
The hotel was nice enough, we arrived on a Thursday, and it looked like the pool was not looked after. By Friday this was resolved, it seems they clean the pool for the weekend crowd.
We had to ask for hot water every morning, it took a few minutes to heat up. It seems they just arbitrarily shut down the hot water to suites.
The bed was firm, but that seems to be the norm in Mexico, and over the years, it's what I have become to expect.
WIFI, if important, is not great at this property. I would look elsewhere. It didn't really work in the rooms, and you have to log in with a new password every day. Also, one day we were working at the pool and had the computer plugged in to charge, the next day, the power to the outlets was no longer working. Draw your own conclusions, but I think management is incredibly cheap.
Overall the staff was nice, but the owners really need to stop cutting corners to make this a go to place.
Closer to a cautionary tale than a hotel stay
The pictures online must have been taken in an alternate universe, because what we walked into was more ‘roadside motel’ than the promised tropical escape. We booked it hoping for convenience near the new Tren Maya station—but there was nothing convenient about it, unless you count the quick access to a pharmacy the next morning after the food gave me 24 hours of Montezuma’s Revenge.
The staff tried, and that’s the only star I can give. But if you’re picturing a charming Palenque stay to start your adventure—think again. Unless your adventure includes testing your digestive system’s resilience
Beds and pillows are hard as rocks, the shower head as old as a dinosaur it shoots everywhere except down, made a mess in the shower room. They don’t allow outside food or drinks not even coffee. I reserved for several days but had to leave early they gave me hell and wanted to charge for the entire reservation. I could never turned TV on, I asked to send someone to fix it but never did. The property is nice though, but would never stay there again, ever.
I recently stayed at this property and unfortunately, it left a lot to be desired. The water system was incredibly frustrating — it would turn on for about 30 seconds, then shut off for 10 seconds, and kept repeating like that the entire time. It made even basic tasks like showering way more complicated than they should be.
The Wi-Fi was basically nonexistent, so if you’re planning to get any work done or even just stream a show, you’ll be disappointed. As for the pool, it’s extremely shallow, ranging from about 2 feet to 4 feet deep. It’s fine if you have small kids, but definitely not great for adults looking to actually swim or relax.
Overall, the property felt very bare bones, with a clear lack of amenities that would make a stay more comfortable. It could work for a very short stay if you have young children and don’t mind roughing it, but otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend it for adults or anyone expecting a basic level of convenience.
