"Elm tree cottage was the best stay I’ve had in Yorkshire , I visit often and by far the best place I’ve stayed the hosts were lovely and kind and was great to chat too! The location was perfect in a cute little village on a farm close to Thirsk and an easy drive to York. Providing the essentials for cooking and a cozy little cottage too! Would definitely recommend and look forward to returning in the future! "

"Rooms were quite dated and some furniture damaged, whilst it’s a nice hotel I think some of the amenities need to be replaced."

"Staff were helpful and friendly, breakfast was ok and nice way to start the day, the bar was good with draft beer and the Sofia pizza I had was very good. I would say a car is needed if you plan to stay here and visit York or other places, or if you are happy to get taxis. The park and ride was only 10 minutes away to get into York. I was very happy with the hotel and will book again."

"Lovely hotel and very helpful staff .We were put in a lovely room on the quiet side, it was a very large room but a wall at the window which made me feel slightly claustrophobic, we were moved to a room above the bar which was lovely light and airy and the noise from the bar and beer garden wasn't a problem, it was actually nice to hear some atmosphere from Outside and was quiet by 11.30 .Had the best night's sleep in the massive bed and the fan provided really helped .We did not experience any food from the bar or the restaurant but both were absolutely stunning venues. The outside bar garden is beautiful and plenty of seats with a lovely atmosphere flowing through from the bar ,not loud or louty clients just people enjoying a nice quiet drink .I'd definitely recommend this hotel ,very easy for town and the train station."
