Overall a good place to stay and excellent breakfast and good location quite near to mall and restaurants, however I saw something crawling in my bed in the morning (not really sure what was that thou)
Fun experience and friendly staff. Breakfast included into an already great price and daily maintenance of amenities.
Dormitory experience was nice, everyone was respectful and polite.
Great experience in a former jail turned hostel, lots of discoveries of history regarding this place worth exploring!
It was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was good and dining hall was clean and organized. We took part in the tour and it was great. We really liked how secure the parking was. The washrooms and showers were very clean and well maintained. Staff was pleasant. Room was clean and had what was needed for a good sleep.
The room was very clean and surprisingly quiet (I mean, it *was * a Tuesday night in Ottawa). I had the best night’s sleep I’ve had in ages! Bathrooms were clean too. Staff very helpful. And staying in a converted gaol is very cool. Highly recommended!
Staff is friendly and very helpful. Great atmosphere and unique place to stay. Easy parking option for a fee. Very well located. Included breakfast was appreciated.
This was my 4th time staying at the Ottawa Jail Hostel. Previous years were not under the new Saintlo oraganization. My jail cell this year was on level 2 which is the first basement floor where the kitchen and lounge areas are. Very convienent access to toilets and showers near my room. There are areas for private work spaces which were appreciated on this trip for work. Love the location and the ease of access to the amazing multi-use pathways that are in Ottawa and Gatineau. Definitely a fun and unique place to stay!!
Once you get over the bit of shock of seeing the property in person this is a LOVELY stay! Super quiet, comfortable enough, very safe.
It will push your comfort level just a bit but I had a eye mask with headphones built in and had a wonderful sleep.
Just a note that there is no elevator- so be aware of your mobility level. Great stay as a single person going to a conference.
This is my favourite place to stay in Ottawa. I have rebooked there many times. Great atmosphere. Close proximity to transportation and shopping. Friendly staff. Clean.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
The kitchen, rooms, bathrooms and shower were always clean. A small fan was at the head of the bed and definitely a life saver for keeping things cool and the air moving. Parking was on site, code access only and felt safe. The on site breakfast hit the spot with fresh fruit options.
The building was well preserved and had a deep, interesting history. The staff was kind and personable, I appreciate that they organize a variety of community events (I attended one and made friends-- would recommend you check something out!).
