"I wrote to the hotel using the Hotels.com messaging several times for several days before checking in regarding the airport shuttle. They NEVER responded. At the airport, I called for an airport pickup and did not receive sufficient information about the pickup location. I called several times subsequently. It took over 45 minutes to get a shuttle pickup in the afternoon. The staff seemed indifferent."

The only disappointment was the selection on the menu for lunch. I would have liked to have seen a simple tomato pasta dish for adults and children. It was far too extractor a lunch menu. "A destination hotel sitting above Varese with gardens overlooking Lake Varese below. We were warmly greeted at reception and having arrived in the evening after a flight and drive, we chose to eat in the restaurant. Good move - the food was very good but surpassed by our waiter's enthusiasm to make crepe suzette at our table, which was excellent and thoroughly entertaining. We stayed in May, so the pool was closed and left before exploring the area but glad we stayed here - charming, historic and whilst there are areas that require a little TLC, it adds to the character. Rooms were comfortable, well equipped and a nice bathroom."
