"Owners and staff were extremely helpful, especially when using the luggage forwarding. Use of common area is perfect for buying groceries and making own food ( There is a 24 hr grocery store nearby). The rooms are beautiful, abeit the walls are thin. it does not deter from staying here and would recommend for anyone wanting the old feel with updated features.It is also conveniently close to 2 train stations. which makes transit relatively easy."

"We have been using Expedia for more than 15 years with generally very good results. We trust the platform and have booked many family trips through your app without problems. Right now, we are on a family vacation in Japan with our 8-year-old daughter, staying in Tokyo for 12 days. We also took a day trip to Kyoto by bullet train and decided last minute to stay one night. We booked a hotel room through Expedia, trusting that family-friendly options would be shown to us since our reservation clearly included a child. When we arrived at around 8:00 pm and checked into the room, we were shocked. The room was clearly an adult/couple hotel room: it was full of sex toys, condoms, and there was a huge TV with adult content. We had to cover the items with towels so our child would not see them. The room also felt dirty, and the pillows had a bad smell. Only after arriving did we notice that the reservation said “adult room,” but this was never clearly explained to us, and we did not know this type of hotel was common in Tokyo/Kyoto. This was a very uncomfortable and inappropriate experience for a family with a child. We trusted Expedia to help us find suitable accommodations, especially since the booking included a minor. This experience was upsetting and disappointing, and it has affected our trust in using Expedia for family travel in Japan. I strongly believe Expedia should clearly filter out adult/couple hotels when a reservation includes children, or at least provide warnings "

"This Kyoto hostel completely overturned my impression of local accommodations being typically cramped. Very clean and comfortable. High-quality beddings.The living room was surprisingly spacious—easily accommodating our big group with over ten large suitcases! Located near Fushimi Inari Shrine and Tofukuji Temple, it was very peaceful at night. We had brought thick bedding, worried that Kyoto might be cold, but the rooms were extremely comfortable. When we asked for more bowls, chopsticks, and a wok, the hostel readily provided—thank you so much! The hostel is also close to the station and surrounded by various small restaurants. A convenience store is only about a minute's walk away, which is very convenient. There's a waterway nearby, and at night, the streetlights reflected on the water create a breathtaking scene. Will come again if possible. "

"We chose this stay to make a visit to a nearby nighttime festival easier. We were very pleased to be greeted with a friendly welcome, and some English, which was an immediate comfort given our limited Japanese skill. The hotel is modest, but the room was clean and comfortable. And quiet. It is conveniently located to the train station and many restaurants and tourist locations. They kindly held our luggage for us after checkout, so we could visit to our local destinations without carrying our luggage. Our stay was short, so we did not need to take advantage of any of the accommodation such as laundry, but the shower was a welcome treat with great water pressure. Recommend!"
