"our experience from check-in to check out exceeded our expectations even though we’d read all the great reviews from previous visitors. "Beautiful place. Perfect for solo travel. Love the vibes and is perfectly placed right on the corner of the busy trip. Would definitely stay here again. The room is also cleaned daily which was a nice touch due to being at the beach all day the room gets sandy quickly so it was a pleasant surprise to have the room cleaned to perfection everyday. They also have laundry on site and many restaurants near by. "

"Upon arrival we had to wait for the receptionist Racida for 30’minutea to show up. Instead of apologizing she started to raise her volume to explain why she left, despite us specifically mentioning the time of arrival. We called the owner to complain and she didn’t seem to care. We had very low speed internet signal in the studio, with WiFi frequently disconnecting; we got anywhere from 1 to 11 mbps, due to a low power WiFi extender. We experienced nightly power cuts - no automatic power backup....

"Firstly the property is up a very steep hill , there was no mention of this . The apartment is separate to the building in the photo. There was no internet , you had to go to the main building for this . The pool and breakfast was also there , we declined as it felt you were in someone’s house, intruding . Constant dog barking at night . The town itself is just a meeting point for elderly peodphiles and it was sickening ."

Villa Bako Hotel - Nosy Be

10/10 Excellent

"The best thing about this hotel is undoubtedly the staff, especially Eric and the two lads in the restaurant. They take what is already a decent hotel and make it an amazing one. Unfortunately, the airline lost our luggage, but Eric immediately stepped in and helped us. He personally came out with us to help us find everything we needed, expecting absolutely nothing in return. Five days later, when our luggage finally arrived, he went above and beyond once again by accompanying us to retrieve it, making sure we got everything back and offering to translate whenever needed. He really is a top bloke, and the hotel is incredibly lucky to have someone so genuinely helpful, attentive and caring. The two lads in the restaurant are equally brilliant. They always greet you with a smile, and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. Their attitude really makes a difference to the overall experience. Breakfast is simple but very nice, and the egg station is particularly good, especially the scrambled eggs. The rooms, gardens and overall cleanliness are all excellent. The pool was okay, although the water became a little murky during our stay. However, the team acted quickly and got straight on with sorting it out, which was another example of how attentive the staff are. Finally, the location is fantastic. The beach is right next to the hotel, so it feels practically beachfront, and the sunset views are beautiful. Would definitely recommend!"

"Paradise found! We loved our stay here! It was our last few nights in Madagascar after a month - this was a perfect way to end an incredible trip. The room was gorgeous and well appointed, the beach is sweet and lovely for swims at high tide. It was great having the free paddle boards, kayaks and snorkel gear - we kayaked to the turtle sanctuary and swam with them (lovely!!). The food is epic here - possibly the best we’ve had in Madagascar. Dominique clearly takes great care in producing outstanding meals - delightful. However the stars of the show are the staff - especially Marianne. Wow. Attentive, kind, warm and discerning. She made all our wishes come true and helped organise dive trips and whale watching as well as a guided walk on Sakatia (although with a few basic instructions you can probably do this yourself!) If you want a few days of quiet, restful days while being well cared for - look no further!! 5 stars!!"

Hotel Ocean Beach

"The ocean view amazing but you had to work for it. Lots of steps. (We stayed in the highest bungalow) There are no roads on the island. You get there by boat. The reception was amazing. Luggage carried off boat. Mango juice served upon arrival. Wonderful staff. Waking up to the sights and sounds of the ocean and birds was wonderful. No air conditioning in our unit but with terrace doors wide open, (they have mosquito netting around the bed, alrhough we didn't need it as it was the first of October - dry season) and a standing fan, we weren't too hot. The garden filled property was lovely. They have a bar. Pool didn't have water."

"This place really is paradise. Me and my girlfriend spent 9 nights here and had a fantastic time. The bungalows are spacious with your own sun beds overlooking the sea which is no more than 10/20 meters away. Food is very good and the portions are very generous. We did some excursions organised by the hotel and again everything ran perfect and was very enjoyable. The Tuk Tuk drivers and the taxi drivers they use are also very helpful and we felt perfectly safe and happy when we used them. The staff are all very friendly. It’s such a quiet and secluded place, the perfect place to relax and unwind. It also has the most beautiful sunsets every evening we watched them go down and felt very lucky to be in such a beautiful place. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the island."

"I loved my visit to Villa les Orchidées. The hotel was amazing and the staff were more than helpful. My three complaints are very, very minor and would not effect a decision to stay there again, however people should know what they are getting: 1) There is no hot-tub, only a pool. 2) There is no real coffee, only instant garbage. 3) The hotel soundtrack is nauseating. I have a feeling the owner, whom you will more than likely meet, likes it, but its just awful."

"We stayed for 20 nights and honestly wish we could have stayed even longer. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, every member of staff was friendly, welcoming and genuinely helpful. The reception team, restaurant staff and bar staff were all exceptional and always made us feel at home. Our room (Junior Suite B11) was spotless every day. Housekeeping did an amazing job throughout our stay and everything was maintained to a very high standard. During our holiday we were unfortunately unwell for a short time, and the hotel staff couldn’t have been more caring and supportive. Their kindness made a real difference and is something we will always remember. Towards the end of our stay, our daughter joined us for four nights. The hotel arranged a Deluxe room for her at short notice and helped organise her transport, making everything completely stress-free. The location is beautiful, the atmosphere is relaxed, and watching the sunsets from the hotel never got old. This wasn’t just a great hotel, it was a place where the staff genuinely cared about their guests. After 20 nights we felt more like friends than customers. Thank you to Andrick and the whole team for making our holiday so special. We left with wonderful memories and sincerely hope to return one day."

"Manga Soa is as close to paradise on Earth as you will find! It is a friendly, French-managed small lodge set in the most exhuberant tropical gardens imaginable! Every tropical flower & plant are found here. The managers, Roman & Ocean, are a competent, friendly can-do couple who can handle any request. Their staff is impeccably trained, yet friendly & personable. We loved the French-inspired food! With tasty tropical touches, every meal was a delight! The chef's brioche rolls were scrumptious! This is the perfect paradise! Each oversized bungalow is masterfully made from local hardwoods with true island touches. We loved the huge bed with crisp, cool linens. Lying in bed looking out over the Indian ocean is true luxury! The beach is beautiful but not always swimmable with the low tide. Ask Roman to arrange for their boat to take you to a reef or one of the nearby islands! Don't miss having a massage or 2! Prices are so reasonable & the ladies are very knowledgeable! We loved everything about our stay here and were treated like VIPs! It is a shining gem on Nosy Be. The road is now paved & it's a smooth & easy trip to the airport or Helleville."
